Your background in A&P mechanics gives you the technical rigor, familiarity with complex assemblies, and commitment to precision we value—transferring those skills from aviation to the art and science of building for WET. This role focuses on hands-on assembly, integration, and testing, not repair or scheduled maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise hands-on mechanical and electromechanical assembly across custom prototypes, ensuring every detail meets WET’s standards for innovation and quality
Assign assembly tasks, build schedules, and oversee workflow for unique, one-off builds
Interpret engineering drawings, fabrication specs, and build documentation—solving technical challenges through creative, systematic approaches
Oversee initial system integration and functional tests to guarantee flawless operation upon installation
Direct team communications, training, and safe work practices during every project phase
Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to ensure designs translate smoothly from concept into reality
Manage inventory and resources to keep prototypes moving through each assembly stage—troubleshooting delays and sourcing parts when needed
Guide and mentor assemblers through advanced mechanical and electrical build techniques
Document processes, offer suggestions for continuous improvement, and champion creative problem solving
Ideal Candidate
Licensed or highly experienced A&P Mechanic (a plus)
5+ years leading or mentoring teams in hands-on technical assembly environments
Deep skill in interpreting complex drawings, wiring diagrams, and fabrication specs
Experience in prototype, custom, or high-mix product environments preferred
Proficient with hand and power tools, measurement instruments, and shop equipment
Systematic problem solver—thrives in situations with ambiguity and frequent change
Strong organizational and team leadership abilities
Motivated by building what’s never been built before
Why WET?
