The Position
Regional Medical Expert, Ophthalmology (Delhi / Bangalore / Hyderabad / Chennai)
As a Regional Medical Expert (RME), you will be responsible for engaging with healthcare professionals (HCPs), accounts, and institutions to facilitate high-quality scientific exchange. RMEs ensure consistent execution of cluster-level engagement plans and provide timely medical insights to shape strategy. It is a field-based Medical Affairs role.
Working under the guidance of the Medical Chapter Lead (MCL) and in close collaboration with Disease Area Medical Leads (DAMLs) and Disease Area Squad Leads (DASLs), you will focus on delivering medical value at the frontline. The initial focus will be on Ophthalmology.
Your Opportunity
Execute an HCP and account engagement plan aligned with cluster and pan-India medical strategy.
Build peer-to-peer scientific relationships with HCPs, including KOLs and relevant ophthalmology specialists in the assigned geographical area.
Identify, capture, and share actionable medical insights from the field with DAMLs, MEs, and MCLs.
Support advisory boards, medical education programs, and scientific meetings in the assigned disease area.
Collaborate with DAMLs and MEs to identify real-world evidence opportunities (registries, observational studies, IIS).
Support identification and assessment of potential trial sites and investigators.
Represent Roche Medical at local scientific congresses, society meetings, and institutional forums.
Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with Roche SOPs, UCPMP, and local regulations.
Remain flexible to support other disease areas if required, while maintaining primary focus on Ophthalmology.
Who you are
Advanced degree: MBBS, MD, PharmD, PhD, or MPharm with strong scientific foundation.
2–4 years’ experience in Medical Affairs, clinical practice, or related field; prior field-based/MSL experience preferred.
Prior exposure to Ophthalmology (Vitreo-Retinal preferred) advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to engage in credible scientific discussions with HCPs.
Understanding of clinical research, RWE, and Indian healthcare environment.
High willingness to travel (60-70% field time).
