Role
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a positive, warm, welcoming, friendly, personal and professional service at all times to all customers.
- Provide general and contribute to the continuous improvement of student services delivery which includes the following areas
- Careers advice and guidance (including application to higher education)
- Health and Wellbeing support
- Financial support
- Engage with students, through one to one and group sessions, in a positive and proactive way to;
- Enrich their experience at college;
- Support them to be successful on their programmes;
- Develop their employability skills
- Develop high quality effective resources, following an agreed framework, to support delivery of services.
- To work flexibly and responsively to the varying needs of students with respect to the general running of the student services area and under the guidance of the Head of Student Services.
- Work collaboratively with the Progress Coach team to identify students deemed to be ‘at risk’ and to devise efficient and responsive solutions to support them.
- Deliver engaging, impartial and effective IAG and Career guidance programme which inspires students and supports their motivation, aspiration and confidence including workshops/talks oin a range of topics related to careers, UCAS and Progression.
- Co-ordinate, organise and deliver student focused events such as progression and employment showcase, tutorials and workshops covering careers, learning and work opportunities including UCAS applications, i.e., checking applications, personal statements, and references and working with employers and other organisations to coordinate and contribute to wider careers offer.
- Manage a caseload of ‘at risk’ students, implementing effective interventions to support them to successfully complete their programme of study,
- Provide knowledgeable and customer focussed support, advice and guidance, encouraging students to succeed in their education, personal development and employability. You will provide this support through:
- One to one sessions (face to face, digitally and over the phone)
- A scheduled programme of delivery to groups of students
Criteria
- A high standard of general education, with a minimum of a full Level 3 qualification
- Mathematics and English to level 2 or above
- Hold or be willing to achieve a level 4 information, advice and guidance qualification.
- Is passionate about student development, safeguarding, and inclusive education.
- Understands the challenges and opportunities in the FE sector.
- Successful experience of working with young people and adults.
- Experience of successfully working in a customer focused environment.
