MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

BANK

  • Leveraged Syndicate business in EMEA; transactions geared towards institutional investor distribution (sponsor-driven and leveraged corporates).
  • Corporate loan Syndicate business in EMEA, transactions geared towards bank distribution.
  • Work closely with the other Syndicate functions within DCM– Loans & Bonds, the GCIB coverage and product teams, distribution teams, MUS, external borrowers and loan investors.
  • Provide support to senior team members to develop a sustainable client focussed primary loan markets business for MUFG clients

MUS

  • Leveraged Syndicate business in EMEA, transactions geared towards HY investor distribution (sponsor-driven and leveraged corporates).
  • Work closely with the the other Syndicate functions within DCM– Loans & Bonds, the GCIB coverage and product teams, distribution teams, Bank, external borrowers and HY bond investors.
  • Provide support to senior team members to develop a sustainable client focussed primary European HY bond markets business for MUFG clients

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

BANK

  • Provide support to senior team members in determining pricing , assessing market liquidity, defining and executing syndication strategy in support of the relevant Loan Origination function
  • Provide support to senior team members to manage information flow and transaction process through its different stages from initial analysis, client pitches/offers to the distribution strategy and completion phase, including but not limited to preparing underwriting applications, deal screening support memos, and comparable analysis as well as updating the pricing database, and the pipeline report.
  • Take the lead on the production of high quality market research on pricing, deal structures and investor activity as required for tailor-made client presentations and pitch-books.
  • Collaborate with MUFG distribution teams, other Syndicate teams globally and MUS to optimise financing solutions to meet client needs and roll out MUFG’s O&D strategy.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including 1LOD and 2LOD.
  • Build relationships throughout MUFG to establish a peer network to ensure appropriate engagement and support to develop, secure and maximise product opportunities, gather relevant information and help to ensure effective inter-departmental collaboration.
  • Develop a practical understanding of all core systems and procedures within Capital Markets.
  • Provide guidance and review work of more junior colleagues to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Leverage Syndicate

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the investor and sponsor market requirements in terms of risk appetite, structure and pricing requirements in order to assess and take underwriting risk and ensure a successful distribution
  • Develop and maintain strong relationship with investors in order to maximise distribution channels.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationship with counterparts in other market-leading Syndication institutions as well as Financial Sponsors to maximise market profile, origination opportunities as well as deal efficiency and collaboration opportunities where appropriate for the benefit of MUFG objectives.
  • Provide support to senior team members to build MUFG’s brand within the Leveraged Finance space (sponsor-driven and leveraged corporates) to generate deal flow consistent with our sector vertical approach, target size range and geographic focus.

Corporate Syndicate

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the bank market requirements in terms of risk appetite, structure and pricing requirements in order to assess and take underwriting risk and ensure a successful distribution
  • Develop and maintain effective relationship with counterparts in other market leading Syndication institutions to maximise market profile, origination opportunities as well as deal efficiency and collaboration opportunities where appropriate for the benefit of MUFG objectives.
  • Provide support to senior team members to build MUFG’s brand within the Corporate Loan space to generate deal flow consistent with our sector vertical approach, target size range and geographic focus.

MUS

  • Provide support to senior team members in determining pricing , assessing market liquidity and execution strategy in support of the relevant HY Origination function.
  • Provide support to senior team members to manage information flow and transaction process through its different stages from initial analysis, client pitches/offers to the distribution strategy and completion phase, including but not limited to preparing pricing build ups and comparable analysis
  • Take the lead on the production of high quality market research on pricing, deal structures and investor activity as required for tailor-made client presentations and pitch-books.
  • Collaborate with MUFG distribution teams and other Syndicate teams globally to optimise financing solutions to meet client needs and roll out MUFG’s O&D strategy.
  • Work in partnership with colleagues across all regions to develop and broaden the overall relationship with core clients by providing high quality support and product interface with regards to capital markets financing opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and review work of more junior colleagues to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Build relationships throughout MUFG to establish a peer network to ensure appropriate engagement and support to develop, secure and maximise product opportunities, gather relevant information and help to ensure effective inter-departmental collaboration.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Minimum 4+ years experience in Financial Services


Preferred:

  • Experience in a similar role in an established institution with a proven track record

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential

  • Solid knowledge of capital markets products, including Corporate Loans, Leveraged Loans and HY
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products fluently (notably Powerpoint and Excel); as well as Bloomberg
  • Strong presentation skills

Preferred:

  • Detailed / advanced knowledge of capital markets products and investors

Education / Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree level education

Preferred:

  • MA, MBA or equivalent vocational qualification (e.g. CFA)
  • European languages beneficial
