THE WORK
The Land and Maritime Solutions (LMS) Business Development Director is a pivotal role within Lockheed Martin's Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) Training, Logistics and Simulation (TLS) Line of Business. This position is responsible for formulating and executing the business strategy for the Land, Test and Maritime Solutions market segment. This position will lead a team in identifying growth opportunities, managing the opportunity pipeline, and fostering customer engagement to drive business expansion domestically and internationally.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy for the Land and Test portfolio of training offerings in alignment with organizational objectives.
2. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a broad team to ensure alignment with strategic priorities, foster talent development, and drive high performance.
3. Opportunity Management: Oversee the management of domestic and international opportunity pipeline, ensuring timely and effective capture of new business opportunities.
4. Customer Engagement: Develop and execute customer engagement plans to build strong relationships, understand customer needs, and position LMS solutions effectively.
5. New Business Capture: Lead the new business capture process, from opportunity identification to proposal submission, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and organizational capabilities.
6. Decision Making: Participate in New Business Fund (NBF) decision-making processes, providing strategic insights and recommendations based on market analysis and opportunity assessment.
7. Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary internal and external contact for LMS, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to optimize solutions and drive business success.

Basic Qualifications
• Experience with large captures and delivering on Orders commitments
• Proven and current knowledge of DoD procurement environment and acquisition processes
• Ability to build strong relationships with customers, industry partners, and across the LM enterprise
• Direct leadership experience
• Experience with New Opportunity identification and pipeline management
• Experience making priority funding decisions, managing and executing budgets
• Demonstrated experience mentoring the team to identify “Art of the deal” activities to increase probability of win
• Experience teaming with multiple industry partners
• 10+ years of business development and/or operational experience.
• A high degree of flexibility and the ability to travel worldwide without restriction.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
