Our Opportunity

We are currently hiring into our Supply Chain Operations team and have a vacancy for an Industrial Engineer based in London.

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for providing efficient, cost effective and value added Industrial Engineering supporting from bid phase throughout the product lifecycle as well as leading the improvement of design, change, manufacture, installation, obsolescence of our product range by effective technical and influencing skills.

This role’s responsibilities also include Part number and BoM Control, obsolescence control, industrial performance improvement and coordination of our PLM into the ERP supply chain plan (ORACLE).

This is a hybrid role, where our minimum expectation is that you will be on site 2 days per week – primarily from a base location in Waterloo.

Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Design for X - Apply design principles throughout industrialisation to ensure on time delivery at right cost and quality
  • Value engineering and cost reduction - Standardisation, review schedules-project timelines to identify cost reduction but also meet customer requirements
  • Supplier management – Complete FAI for new products and report, use MRL/PRR to improve maturity of the supply chain and work with suppliers to improve quality and capability
  • Development/maintenance of production-test strategies
  • Installation support – Improve the process efficiency through supply/tooling/methods and remove waste from the process by applying lean techniques
  • Documentation – Create and maintain controlled documentation- (Process flows/Drawings/Routing/BoMs/Assembly-Inspection)
  • Provide information and management reports
  • Enhance competitiveness through continual improvement of functional processes and adoption of best practices
  • Analyse and improve working methods surrounding complex issues within the industrial supply chains including the management of advanced procurement during development
  • Lead the introduction and management of change, and the development of a continuous improvement culture
  • Management of key supplier and customer relationships, including performance reporting

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Experience of production systems
  • Strong understanding of Engineering Change systems and Management fundamentals (Clearquest/Windchill/PLM)
  • Experience of using a PLM tool for managing parts and bills of material
  • Experience of using an ERP system (ideally ORACLE) and understanding how that interacts with PLM tool
  • Knowledge of process improvement techniques (Value Engineering, Kaizen, Lean, 5s)
  • Experience of conducting design to cost and design for manufacturing/procurement activities
  • Prior experience working on WIP jobs and with Production Orders

Human Skills

  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to present and influence at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills

What to expect

This role will be open to application until Friday 5th September. We may begin our interview process before this date and may close the role early if suitable talent is identified quickly.

We aim to complete a two-stage interview process. Your first interview will be a technical competency based interview. The second stage interview will focus on behavioural competencies. At least one of these will be held in person at our Waterloo office.
