The role (Brisbane or Perth)

The Lead Engineer – Mobile Equipment DNAP plays a key role in delivering mobile equipment engineering across DNAP by developing and interpreting technical standards and shaping strategies for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of our mobile plant units (MPUs) and fleet, including highway trucks, light vehicles, and yellow goods. This role is focused on driving continuous improvement by working closely with specialist teams, field engineers, and operational staff. It also includes the responsibility of acting as the Company’s Responsible Engineer for Mobile Equipment, ensuring compliance and technical integrity. Additionally, the Lead Engineer leads both regional and global Communities of Practice, fostering collaboration and sharing best practices across the business.

If located in Perth, travel to Brisbane required on a quarterly basis.

  • Ensure incident investigations, actions, and audits in SHAERS are completed in line with HSEC policies, standards, and relevant legislation. Maintain compliance with Company HSE policies and applicable Acts and Regulations.
  • Engage in training, development programs, Communities of Practice, and workshops to maintain and grow technical and leadership capability.
  • Monitor and communicate compliance with statutory regulations and internal standards. Apply Management of Change processes and audit standards in collaboration with Business Unit engineers.
  • Conduct investigations and data analysis to assess equipment risk and criticality. Maintain risk registers, implement controls, audit effectiveness annually, and apply improvements.
  • Support and lead improvement initiatives focused on cost savings and revenue growth, contributing to both personal and team project outcomes.

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering and eligible for RPEQ/CPEng registration.
  • Meets SSAN access requirements and has knowledge of explosive manufacturing technology.
  • Experienced in MPU design, build, commissioning, and maintenance, with strong understanding of process safety and relevant codes and standards.
  • Skilled in risk identification, mitigation, and reliability optimisation, including RBM and RCM strategies.
  • Proficient in statistical failure analysis, root cause failure analysis, and incident investigation methods such as ICAM.
