About the role


The Reliability Engineer is accountable to the Asset Performance Manger to develop and optimize electrical, mechanical and civil maintenance strategies to reduce asset downtime, and to ensure assets are maintained optimally and efficiently within the Renewables portfolio. The role will create and embed processes relating to maintenance strategies development, deployment and continuous improvement initiatives driven to support the Planning, Scheduling, and Execution of Maintenance across the Renewables fleet.
In this role, you will champion reliability improvement initiatives and utilise asset performance and diagnostics to improve performance and drive cost efficiencies.                         

What you'll be doing

  • Coordinate, lead and champion effective collaboration between Engineering, Maintenance and Asset Services SMEs to ensure that the outcomes of reliability analyses are included into maintenance strategies to drive production, reliability, safety and environmental improvements.
  • Support Renewables Engineering and Maintenance teams in developing, prioritising and seeking endorsement of optimised maintenance strategies for the Renewables portfolio.
  • Once endorsement and approval achieved, ensure that optimised maintenance strategies are loaded into the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) and converted into effective routines, improving efficiency in the execution of maintenance tasks, as well as capturing the required labour and materials, etc.
  • Ensure that existing planned maintenance tasks are updated in CMMS (SAP) and Document Management System (AEL).
  • Support the Renewables (including Gas) Maintenance teams in the development, deployment and continuous improvement of maintenance support information.
  • Ensure that optimised Planned Maintenance (PM) Tasks have all necessary documentation developed and stored within the Renewables Document Management System. These also need to be deployed by attaching them to the Computerised Maintenance Management System (SAP) PMs, to allow maintenance personnel to effectively complete the work identified safely, efficiently and sustainably.
  • Working closely with multiple stakeholders, to ensure that maintenance documentation is effectively managed. This includes identifying and closing gaps in maintenance information, ensuring that document reviews are completed in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with Renewables Engineering to ensure that projects deliver the
    documentation required to maintain the assets is delivered and available in a suitable format and in a timely manner.
  • Develop tools and systems to improve the tracking of KPIs, suitable for use with Visual Management boards.
  • Ensure that the gathering and analysis of data and information occurs across
    Renewable assets to allow robust reliability analysis at business unit, system, and equipment level.
  • Coordinate Failure Mode and Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for plant failures.
  • Monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of renewable assets, including
    equipment performance measurement against performance curves provided by the OEMs.
  • Identify key downtime causes and effectively use downtime information to derive KPIs like Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), Reliability, Maintainability & Availability.
  • Plant performance and condition monitoring data analysis, including vibration trends and oil analysis reports to ensure that the top causes of production loss are being addressed.
  • Provide useful information to input into the Renewables Whole of Life asset plans to optimise asset performance and risk.
  • Technical advice to optimise plant performance based on data analysis.
  • Provide expert advice for all significant reliability matters at all Renewable sites.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor qualification in Engineering – Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Preferred.
  • Experience utilising Reliability Engineering techniques and Asset Management principles to drive improvement highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated previous experience in leading reliability improvement initiatives and developing maintenance documentation in power stations or other similar heavy industry.
  • Understanding of SAP as a CMMS is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Power BI, OSI PI, Reliability, RCA and Condition Monitoring software are desirable.
  • Able to work effectively across Renewable sites, as well as providing technical support other business units within Gas and Renewables as required.
  • Attention to detail for identifying minor issues, particularly in a root cause or Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) analysis.
  • Awareness and interest in reliability requirements. Provides strong leadership in the reliability area, devising innovative ways to improve personal efficiency.
