modernization, development and maintenance of our fixed income platform. This platform
(buyside and sellside) is critical to our business, providing sophisticated tools, connectivity and
analytics for trading in the fixed income markets. The Director of Engineering will be responsible
for overseeing a team of talented engineers, driving technical innovation, and ensuring the
platform's scalability, reliability, and security.
What Will You Be Involved With?
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Manage performance, provide coaching and development opportunities, and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Recruit and onboard new engineering talent to expand the team's capabilities.
- Effectively delegate tasks, manage workloads, and ensure timely project delivery.
- Technical Strategy and Execution:
- Define the technical vision and roadmap for the fixed-income platform, aligning them with business objectives and market trends.
- Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of new features and enhancements.
- Ensure the platform's scalability, reliability, performance, and security.
- Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and tools to support the platform evolution.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, clients, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Communicate effectively with senior management on project status, risks, and opportunities.
- Foster strong relationships with technology vendors and partners.
- Take ownership of the overall health and stability of the fixed income platform.
- Monitor platform performance, identify and resolve issues, and implement proactive measures to prevent future problems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and security standards.
What Will You Bring to the Table?
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on building electronic trading platforms.
- Experience working with high-frequency market data and middleware technologies such as Solace, LBM, and Aeron.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of fixed income markets, instruments, and trading workflows. Strong technical skills in relevant technologies, such as Java and C++, cloud computing (AWS), and database technologies.
- Experience with building and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and resilient systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Experience with execution and alpha-generating algorithms.
- Experience with data analytics to inform trading decisions.
- Experience with IaaC in cloud environments.
- Strong fixed income domain knowledge.
