SUN-MAID PLANT JOB DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: SHIPPING JOB TITLE: SLIPSHEETER FORKLIFT DRIVER

JOB CODE: 230

JOB SUMMARY: Operate forklift equipped with slip-sheet device. Load various types of trailers and containers. Ensure accuracy of case counts and product code while loading per pick list and / or instructions.

PRODUCTION STANDARDS:

· Accurately load shipments by following shipping instructions and shipping documents, i.e. maps.

· Perform expected volume of work safely and efficiently. Maintain a minimum loading average of 1,333 cases per hour. (10,000 cases / 8 hour day = 1,333 / hr.) An 8 hour day is actually 7.5 man hours.

· Determine method of loading to minimize damage by examining product to be shipped, and the form of transportation to be used.

· Make decisions about loading by checking the quality appearance of cases.

· Do not damage product while transporting or loading product by careful use of forklift equipment.

· Keep a clean and orderly warehouse by keeping partials together, sweeping up when time permits, and the proper placing of product in the warehouse.

· Maintain proper documentation of all product movement.

· Maintain operation of forklift by checking fluids and reporting mechanical problems.

· Contribute to team effort by assisting / teaming as needed.

· Properly fill out Drivers Daily Forklift Checklist.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Hearing protection and safety glasses required at all times while operating forklift. Extended periods of sitting with some climbing on / off forklift and equipment being loaded. Exposure to outside elements. Fast paced environment. Safety gloves for re-fueling.

HELPFUL PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Forklift driver.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES: Read, write and follow written and verbal instructions in English. Perform basic math functions. Must hold and maintain a current forklift operator’s license and successfully complete the required forklift training. Written test may be required. Be able to lift 50 lbs. and carry up to 5 ft. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must possess the ability to learn, understand and use the Inventory Control Radio Frequency (RF) system as it pertains to the job’s required production standards.
