Description
The IT Manager provides strategic leadership and hands-on expertise for KALSEE Credit Union’s technology environment. This role ensures that our technology infrastructure, systems, and applications not only operate reliably but also support the organization’s strategic goals and ability to serve our members effectively. As both a leader and practitioner, the IT Manager sets the vision for technology within the credit union, drives forward-looking initiatives, and develops IT capabilities, while also directly managing day-to-day operations. This role partners with executive leadership to align IT strategy with organizational objectives and works closely with staff across the organization to ensure technology enhances efficiency, security, and member experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Development
- Provide technology vision and leadership to align IT initiatives with credit union goals, member service, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement a forward-looking IT strategy, balancing innovation with practical solutions that support the organization’s size and resources.
- Lead the Information Technology Steering Committee, ensuring IT priorities and investments support business objectives.
- Partner with executives and department leaders to identify opportunities to leverage technology in improving processes, services, and member experience.
- Develop policies, goals, and operational plans that position IT as a strategic enabler of growth.
Operational & Support Responsibilities
- Ensure stable, secure, and efficient operation of all networks, systems, servers, workstations, applications, and communications tools.
- Oversee and perform hands-on management of daily IT operations, including issue resolution, system maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers to optimize cost, service quality, and scalability.
- Maintain the credit union’s core processing system and ensure seamless integration with key business applications.
- Provide responsive, customer-focused support to staff, encouraging self-sufficiency and offering training where needed.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure systems are secured, backed up, and recoverable; design and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Monitor and manage cybersecurity risks; maintain a proactive risk matrix to continuously reduce vulnerabilities.
- Ensure IT operations and practices comply with regulatory requirements (BSA/AML, OFAC, NCUA, etc.).
- Oversee IT-related audit and regulatory reviews, ensuring timely and effective responses.
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the IT Support staff, fostering skill growth and professional development.
- Build cross-functional relationships, serving as a trusted advisor to staff and leadership on technology needs.
- Create a culture of accountability, service, and continuous improvement within the IT function.
- Serve as both leader and “player-coach,” providing hands-on technical expertise as needed.

Requirements
Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in IT operations and support, preferably in a financial services or highly regulated environment.
- At least two years of management or leadership responsibility with accountability for IT strategy and operations.
- Information Technology experience within the banking field preferred.
- Strong understanding of networks, servers, telecommunications, security, and enterprise applications.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical execution.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
- High School Diploma Required.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or similar) strongly preferred.
