POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our Financial Resolution team. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to support the mission of the Credit Union by enhancing the quality of life for our members/team members by providing accurate and timely service that builds trust and loyalty, delivered in a professional member friendly manner. This role is responsible for the collection of all delinquent consumer loans and negative shares. Accountable for initiating, pursuing, and ensuring prompt recovery of all monies owed to the credit union by correspondence with the member.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collection of Delinquent Loans and Negative Shares – Encourage prompt repayment of delinquent accounts by utilizing email, mail, and text messages. • Understanding of Collateral Protection Insurance and Coverage Requirements - Comply with internal policy and procedures and have knowledge of bankruptcy and lien laws as they apply to the collection process. Understand and follow debt collection regulations outlined by the FDCPA, CFPB and the TCPA. • Vault Project - Review all files in the Financial Resolution area of the vault to see if they need to be destroyed or sent to storage. Tear down files that need to be destroyed and place in shred bins. Remove all metal clips and prongs. All files that need to be stored will need to be placed in boxes and tracking lists created will all files included in each box. • Perform other duties as assigned.
PROGRAM AND STRUCTURE
• Orientation - All interns will participate in an orientation session, which will cover the Credit Union’s history, values, policies and work expectations. Interns will be introduced to their department and team members. • Mentorship - Each intern will be paired with a mentor or supervisor who will guide them through the internship, providing support, feedback and career development advice. • Projects and Tasks - Interns will be assigned specific projects, tasks, and responsibilities based on business needs and when possible, aligned with their academic studies and career goals.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION:
High school diploma or G.E.D. EXPERIENCE: Previous business or clerical experience preferred including filing and typing.
