Saint Joseph's College of Maine seeks students from SMCC, USM or NTI in a Technology Program for an Internship opportunity in our Information Technology Department.
This per diem internship position will support the SJC Information Technology Department by:
Providing Help Desk Operations Customer Support:
- Processing Help Desk requests for assistance by entering relevant information into the Ticketing System
- Assisting in maintaining, troubleshooting, setting up all equipment relating to Information Technology
- Assisting users with password resets, software inquiries, and connectivity issues; but not limited to. Remotely and in person
Coordinating Information Technology Department administrative functions by:
- Processing ticketing system requests as assigned in time appropriate manner
- Providing maintenance, deployment, and repair for all SJC issued devices such as computers and printers, escalating when necessary
- Installing and configuring all software
- Maintaining related inventory records
- Updating the Department’s documentation when needed
- Ensuring that the Department's online content accurately reflects current IT policies, events and initiatives
- Assisting with general department daily operations
- Notifying supervisor of potential unsafe cybersecurity practices
- Collaborating with IT staff and other College staff to encourage the thoughtful and creative innovation of new technologies or ideas
- Providing assistance to other members of the IT Team
Education and Experience:
Actively pursuing a Degree in the Information Technology field or Attending Technical School with focus on Information Technology.
Supervision and Scheduling Demands:
Under direct supervision of the IT Director, reporting to the primary Helpdesk Lead for assignments and tasks. Scheduling demands - TBD.
Equipment:
Some of the equipment used to perform this job includes telephone, copier, fax machine, computer, printer, digital multimeter, toner, screwdriver and other computer hand tools.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Problem-solving abilities and a customer-focused attitude.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems and software, ex. Windows, macOS, Google etc.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
