Program Director

Location: Would oversee houses in Bethany, North Haven, Woodbridge, and East Haven 

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Salary: $68,000/YR

 

 

Job Purpose: 

The Program Director (PD) at Aspire Living & Learning plays a vital role in developmental supervision of employees to effectively work with individuals supported within various programsThe PD provides administrative management and engages a high-quality workforce. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

The PD is responsible for programmatic and operational oversight and developmental supervision. This person holds a leadership role, building effective teams and championing internal and external partnershipsBelow outlines key aspects of the roles and responsibilities this position holds: 

 

Relationships and Communication: 

  • Cultivate a positive and productive workplace atmosphere to enhance team morale and productivity  
  • Creates positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders including employees, peers, local and state agencies as well as parents and guardians  
  • Ensures all communication is timely, professional, clear and concise  
  • Builds trust, mutual respect and cohesion around shared mission  

Program Management: 

  • Creates a supportive environment in which to retain quality employees and providers  
  • Provides ongoing developmental supervision encouraging professional growth and ensuring employees are meeting programmatic requirements 
  • Ensures adherence to organization-wide policies and procedures and state and federal regulations, meeting licensing and certification standards  
  • Provides fiscal oversight of the program(s) under the guidance and leadership of the Director of Adult Services and Senior Director of Program Operations 
  • Coordinates services to provide medical, psychiatric and social-emotional needs of the supported individuals  
  • Supports a culture of community integration  
  • Provides oversight of Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE), executing identified goals  
  • Participate in and complete training sessions as delegated by management to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role. 
  • Conduct training as required and assigned.  
  • Perform any additional job responsibilities assigned by supervisors or team leaders to support the organization's smooth operation. 

Leadership and Coordination: 

  • Lead by example by supporting and implementing companywide initiatives, priorities and policies  
  • Foster a positive work environment while championing a culture of teamwork, growth, collaboration and communication.  
  • Empower and develop managers to effectively supervise employees with the goal of developing a cohesive, autonomous and clinically astute program team  
  • Provide instruction and guidance to direct reports on matters concerning the supervision of their employees, including the role of delegation  
  • Provide direction and planned teaching to agency standards on matters regarding the effective, timely and consistent implementation of all policies and procedures  
  • Perform any additional job responsibilities assigned by supervisors or team leaders to support the organization's smooth operation. 
  • Conduct training as required and assigned.   
  • Accept reassignment as required. 
  • Participate in and complete training sessions as delegated by management to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • 5 or more years’ experience in human services with at least 2 years’ experience overseeing and directing development, implementation and evaluation of human services programs  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational, administrative and communication skills 
  • Knowledge of management and supervisory techniques and best practices  
  • Knowledge of funding agency regulations/requirements 
  • Must have demonstrated computer literacy 
  • Ability to work independently and exercise authority when necessary 
  • Ability to provide on-call support 
  • Must have satisfactory background checks, may be required to be a signer on financial accounts  
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record 

Working Conditions: 

  • Primary work is done within an office setting; however, it is expected that the employee will visit program operations as required to fulfill their job duties.  
  • May be required to travel including infrequent day and/or overnight travel  
  • Some holiday work required to meet on call schedule as needed.  
  • Lift/carry up to 10 pounds; speaking; standing; sitting for long periods of time; reaching; bending; walking; reaching with arms and hands, balancing; using fingers to handle or feel.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. 
  • This position requires the routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, fax machines, audio/visual equipment, etc.
