The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for an Equipment Operator - Transportation to support our government customer located in Kehaka, Hawai'i.
Under general direction of a Supervisor or Lead Person, performs a variety of sub-professional duties and work-related repairs, new construction, fabrication and alteration of facilities and equipment.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific task assignments and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manipulate control to maneuver or operate working attachments on the front-end loader, backhoe, road grader, tractor mower, asphalt roller, road sweepers, D4 and D6 bulldozers, dump trucks, stake trucks, forklifts to 10 tons, water tanker, fuel truck, bus and tractor trailer.
- Operate pneumatic gas and powered tools related to the trade.
- Capable of acquiring the skill and knowledge of proper and safe tools and equipment associated with the trade.
- Be able to demonstrate ability to comprehend and follow instructions at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.
- Have a good understanding of basic mathematics and be able to work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, layout and set grades.
- Have a valid Hawaii State Driver’s License.
- Performs a variety of construction duties.
- Works with other semi-skilled and skilled craft persons and coordinates with members of other activities to ensure quality and timely accomplishment of assigned duties.
- Responsible for care of Government equipment, tools, property, and materials, and assure that they are properly maintained and safeguarded.
- Performs specific tasks in accordance with verbal and/or written instructions and observes safety, fire, health and work rules.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Office conditions are varied and include physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over 50 pounds (with a 2-person assist). Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, and crawling, kneeling or cramped work, requiring repeated stooping, and work requiring repeated or frequent stair climbing. The environment will include working in a confined work area, field assignments, sometimes in inclement weather.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Must have completed trade school training, correspondence school or have a minimum four (4) years apprenticeship or equivalent work experience in trade
- Must have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Must be able to obtain appropriate State and Government licenses to operate equipment.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of four (4) years apprenticeship or equivalent work experience in a direct or related field.
- Must demonstrate ability to comprehend and follow instructions at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.
- Construction experience required.
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Secret security clearance is required. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.
