General Description:   

We’re looking for a reliable Laser Machine - Operator 1, to join our Houston based fabrication team, to help craft high-quality parts with cutting-edge laser technology. If you’re detail-oriented, safety-focused, and ready to grow your skills in advanced manufacturing, this is the role for you. The Laser Machine - Operator 1, will assist in parts production, the operation and maintenance of CNC equipment, follow all safety regulations, and adhere to Stage 3 Separation (S3S) standards of maintaining clean work areas and equipment.  

This position works a Monday through Friday schedule, 8 hours per day with 1 hour for lunch, and reports directly to the Fabrication Manager. There will be occasional overtime that works weekends and company holidays.

 Essential Functions:  

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. 
  • Complies with established safety standards and policies for the Fabrication Department. 
  • Operates overhead crane for loading full sheets and unloading cut parts, from the cutting table. 
  • Conducts inventory counts as directed. 
  • Proficient in operating all non-CNC fabrication tools. 
  • Cleaning & performing routine maintenance of all fabrication tools and machinery. 
  • Assist Fabrication Manager (FM) with, but not limited to: 
    • Packing 
    • Wrapping 
    • Loading of deliveries 
    • Unloading of deliveries  
  • Assist in facility projects including: 
    • Moving items 
    • Packing boxes 
    • Cleaning Station
    • Trash removal 
  • Assist other shop team members with equipment installation, service, cleaning. 
  • Assist welders by pre-assembling and preparing parts and assemblies prior to welding. 
  • Assist MO2 in bending operations that require two people. 
  • Responsible for requesting tools, supplies, and fixtures needed to complete work assignments. 
  • Operating hot-water pressure washer to clean equipment, as required. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Fabrication Manager.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Ability to utilize basic measuring devices (tape measure, calipers, etc…).
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations & perform decimal-to-fraction conversions.
  • Perform basic standard to metric dimensional conversions.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs, with the assistance of machinery or another employee.

Minimum Required Education, Credentials, Licenses and Experience:  

  • Applicants must have completed a minimum level of education, including a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent credential
  • Must be 18 years of age or older, required. 
  • 1+ Year in a fabrication environment, required. 
  • Candidates must have prior forklift operator experience or a valid forklift certification, preferred.
  • Candidates having prior overhead crane experience or a valid overhead crane certification, preferred.
  • Must be fluent in English, with strong reading and writing skills to ensure accurate comprehension of safety guidelines, work orders, and documentation.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening, which will include a urine and hair follicle testing, consistent with applicable law.
  • Applicants are required to disclose any criminal convictions (misdemeanor or felony), through a pre-employment background review.

Requirements

  • 1 + years experience working in a fabrication environment.
  • 1 + years experience working on a laser machine.
  • Ability to utilize basic measuring devices (tape measure, calipers, etc…) 
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations & perform decimal-to-fraction conversions. 
  • Perform basic standard to metric dimensional conversions.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Technical drawings, schematics experience.
