Description
Summary/Objective: Directs production, distribution, and marketing operations for branch plant, or assigned territory of industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Functions: The list of duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Coordinates activities of divisions or departments such as operating, manufacturing, engineering, planning, sales, maintenance, or research and development, to effect operational efficiency and economy.
- Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in area.
- Develops plans for efficient use and Continuous Improvement of materials, machines, and employees.
- Reviews production costs, product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the company.
- Plans, develops and implements organization policies and goals.
- Confers with administrative personnel and reviews activity, operating, and sales reports to determine changes in programs or operations required.
- Directs preparation of directives to department administrator outlining policy, program, or operations changes to be implemented.
- Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
- Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
- Conducts hearings to resolve or effect settlement of grievances and refers unresolved grievances for management union negotiations.
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages 15-20 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 200 employees in the manufacturing area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
