Job Title: Aircraft Mechanic II (Fuels, Intermediate Level)

 

Location: 575th AMXS, Randolph AFB, TX

 

Task Description:

 

Aircraft Mechanic II (23022): Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.

 

Specific Skillset Requirement:

 

Aircraft Mechanic II (23022) (Fuels, Intermediate Level):

Contractor employees shall inspect, maintain modify troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and test aircraft (T-38) fuel systems their assemblies, and components. Isolates the nature of trouble and extent of adjustment or repair required on refuel/cross-feed mechanisms and, pumps, pressure relief valves, fuel bladder removal, installation and leak detection/repair, and other aircraft fuels accessories. Diagnoses malfunctions and overhauls fuels accessories by disassembling, cleaning, and examining parts for corrosion, wear, scratches, cracks, or other damage, replacing gaskets and worn parts. Reassembles accessories, adjusting, and testing to ensure proper operation IAW standards in technical specifications such as technical orders, microfilm, manufactures specification manuals, part supply books, and blueprints and schematic diagrams, and adjusts associated fuels equipment on, and other aircraft features involving fuels. Make modifications of aircraft fuel equipment as required by technical orders, uses standard and specialized tools and measuring devices of the trade to complete assignments.

 

These duties require moderate to strenuous effort. Contractor employees filling this skillset shall be able to climb, bend, stoop, crawl, stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces, and work in confined and cramped and tiring positions. The Contractor shall be required to lift parts and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted and over 25 pounds with assistance. The Contractor shall utilize various hand tools and test equipment and be able to identify, inspect, and store aircraft parts that have been removed to facilitate other maintenance (FOM). Entry into permit-required confined spaces shall be required for this skillset on this task order.

 

Task Requirements:

  • Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means
  • Inspect aircraft components/subcomponents.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Confined space operations to include fuel cell entry
  • Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment
  • Perform shift work and/or overtime as required
  • Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years’ aviation maintenance experience on T-38 fuel systems

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Three years of aviation fuel systems maintenance experience
  • Must be able to work shift schedules as required per Performance Work Statement (PWS)
  • Must be able work work-week schedules i.e. M-F, Sn-Th or as required per PWS
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to obtain favorable National Agency Check with Written Inquires (NACI), IAW DTM-08-003 “Next Generation Common Access Card (CAC) Implementation Guidance or Secret security clearance as required for the position
  • Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools
  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts
  • Must be able to pass employment physicals

 

Compensation

$37.96 /hour

 

Other Compensation

Employees will receive a health and welfare fringe benefit of $2.65 for every hour paid up to 40 hours per week.

Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
