Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute global tax strategies that align with the company’s business objectives and optimize the effective tax rate.
- Provide strategic tax guidance on cross-border transactions, M&A, transfer pricing, and business expansions.
- Monitor and assess the impact of global tax legislation and regulatory changes.
- Maximize tax incentives around the company’s R&D initiatives.
- Optimize the company’s FDII strategy.
- Oversee global tax compliance, including U.S. federal, state, and international income tax filings.
- Assess and manage Permanent Establishment (PE) risk in all operating jurisdictions.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of tax provisions under ASC 740 and related financial statement disclosures.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and ensure SOX compliance for tax-related controls.
- Lead global transfer pricing strategy, documentation, and compliance.
- Collaborate with finance and legal teams to manage intercompany transactions and ensure alignment with global tax policies.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks through proactive planning and internal controls.
- Manage tax audits and controversies across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain strong relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.
- Manage overall corporate tax controversy strategy.
- Lead and develop a high-performing global tax team.
- Serve on the Lummus Global Finance Leadership Team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Treasury, and Business Units to support strategic initiatives.
- Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on tax implications of business decisions.
- Collaborate with external partners (e.g. tax advisors, external auditors) to drive the corporate tax agenda.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s in Tax preferred); JD a strong plus
- CPA or equivalent certification required.
- 12+ years of leading the corporate tax function in a multinational company, although such experience in publicly traded company is highly preferred.
- Tax experience in Germany, The Netherlands, China, Czech Republic, India either on an individual country basis or any combination of these countries is highly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. and international tax laws (OECD, BEPS), ASC 740, and transfer pricing. Knowledge of FDII is a strong plus.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience managing global teams and working in a matrixed environment.
- Experience with tax technology platforms and ERP systems.
- Background in a high-growth or innovation-driven industry.
- Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and drive strategic outcomes.
