SALARY:  The salary range for this position is $52,593.71 to $86,166.03 for Schedule A, and $52,593.71 to $81,857.73 for Schedule B.  For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a decisive, goal oriented professional with a commitment to exceptional customer service and total quality management. Under the direction of the Court Executive 3A (Chief, Court and Judicial Security) and under the direct supervision of the Court Executive 2A (Assistant Chief, Court and Judicial Security Unit), the selected candidate will perform a variety of highly responsible, complex professional administrative functions. The candidate must also have the ability to adapt to change and adjust multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment producing optimal outcomes. The selected candidate will demonstrate outstanding written communication skills and be able to compose clear and concise correspondence and reports. The selected candidate will demonstrate expertise in utilizing technology and computer applications to analyze and communicate data; and maintain a high degree of confidentiality pertaining to sensitive documents, correspondence and will perform related work as assigned.


REMOTE WORKThe Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Position Duties

  • Coordinate the issuance, renewal and collection of the NJ State Judiciary Photo ID cards for Central Office employees, enter and update records in the COL data base, issue and audit RJH access cards for employees, enter and update the AIU system, manage access requests for VIPs

  • Verify credentials and maintain confidential files in accordance with the Cards online system records retention schedule

  • Maintain the Employee Emergency Travel Pass roster and ensure that NJSP Regional Operations Center is provided updates

  • Assist in the training and coordination of the pre-approved Judiciary situational safety and general security classes both in the Central Office and vicinages

  • Review Judiciary Incident Reporting System incidents in the database for completeness and conduct follow up with vicinage operations when required. Support Operations Managers in the acquisition and submission of supplemental materials regarding Judiciary Incident Reporting System

  • Assist with coordinating duress alarm testing for Judiciary, OAE, Probation, Records and off-site judges' chambers

  • Compile and prepare statistical reports for court management, analyze data and make recommendations to management

  • With the assistance of members of Court & Judicial Security Unit, draft, review, revise and update training manuals, recruitment materials, and other document content

  • Receive and triage calls and correspondence received regarding security related issues and projects and respond appropriately

  • Communicate with Court Executives on submitted judiciary incident reports, forwarding information to Judiciary senior management, the New Jersey State Police, and vicinage Sheriff's Office as necessary

  • Review JIRS incidents in the database for completeness and conduct follow up with vicinage operations when required

  • Coordinate duress alarm testing for Judiciary, OAE, Probation, Records and off-site judges' chambers

  • Research, compile and prepare statistical reports for court management, analyze data and make recommendations to management

  • Create curriculum and conduct training for staff on filling out and filing a form on-line using JIRS ensuring statewide consistency

  • Administration, maintenance, and monitoring of the Judiciary Incident Reporting System (JIRS) including system enhancements

  • Support Operations Managers in the acquisition and submission of supplemental materials regarding JIRS (i.e., police reports, video/audio recordings)

  • Prepare, review, and interpret summary statistical reports and identify possible follow up action    Unit calendar, training co-ordination and administrative duties as necessary

  • Communicate judiciary policies and procedures to staff and outside agencies

Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.

Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate's degree and two years of additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Other Qualifications

Driver's License:  Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Authorization to Work:  US citizenship is not required.  Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Special Note:  Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.  All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.

Residency Law:  In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.
