Position Description

The Mold Shop Generalist is responsible for executing a variety of tasks surrounding the production of the molds used for our pottery forming processes on the RAM press, roller tool, and Slip Casting. The Generalist is fully trained in the general tasks of the mold shop as well as all the prototyping and procedures associated with new tooling, across all forming methods. The Generalist is also certified to assist in training new hires and making process improvements that are recorded into department SOPs and training manuals.



Responsibilities

  • Assisting in making the master molds for each of East Fork's forms

  • Assisting in the ongoing tasks of making:

    • RAM press dies

    • Roller Cast Molds

    • Roller Tool/ Jinri Cup Machine molds

    • Slip Cast Molds


  • Assisting the Mold Shop Supervisor  in the prototyping and troubleshooting of new molds

  • Record Keeping of Tooling Tests and collaborating with Mold Shop Supervisor  in assigned tooling projects.

  • Mixing, turning, and pouring plaster

  • Mixing and pouring rubber

  • Keeping accurate records

    • SOP revisions 

    • New tooling notes 

  • Properly palletizing and labeling working moldsets for future use.

  • Maintaining organization and cleanliness in the mold shop workspace.

  • Noting of material and supply needs as they come about. 

  • Training sessions with Mold Shop Team members- Scheduled 

  • Communicating with Production Team Leads about make-list priorities and special projects

  • Assisting the Mold Shop Supervisor  with Mold Shop Equipment Maintenance

Measured Metrics and Review Schedule

Your first review will be 90 days after your start date, then a six-month check-in and a development review annually for the duration of your employment. During each review, your performance and ability to achieve the following metrics will be evaluated. 



  • Keeping accurate and up-to-date records of Mold Shop tooling projects.

  • Effectively communicates project timelines and updates the timeline if there are any changes or setbacks

  • Has assisted in the training of newer mold shop employees 

  • Updates all pertinent information to Materials and Inventory records on a daily basis

  • Collaborates with Shop Supervisor on SOP revisions when a process is changed or a new process is added.

  • Successfully completes make lists for working mold sets and dies

  • Aids in the organization, storage, and transfer of Molds between the McDowell St. and Caribou facilities


Estimated Weekly Hours

7AM-3PM 40 HRS, Monday through Friday 


Classification

This position is full-time, non-exempt.


Pay Rate/Grade

East Fork shall pay you $23.15 hourly at Grade 1

Physical Demands

Extensive physical exertions which include but are not limited to: 

  • Standing for extended periods

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs as needed

  • Repetitive bending and lifting

  • Use of die-breakout hammer 2-3 times per month for 1-2 hours

  • Minimum six months spent in Mold Shop Generalist role

  • Forklift Certified

  • Must fully complete generalist training for promotional eligibility

  • Assisting in  recovering used die cases (Breakout)




Level two  

Mold Shop Generalist 3

PGH1, Starting at $29.42/hour

  • Minimum one year  spent in Mold Shop Generalist level 2 role 

  • Independently constructing and pouring working RAM dies

  • Making rubber masters for all mold use processes: (Roller Tool, Mug Machine, Rollercast) 

  • Making foam chucks for finishing processes: (Roller Tool,  Rollercast)

  • Plaster Turning (rarely utilized, yet essential) 

  • Assist in the training of newer mold shop employees (Generalist 1 level tasks)
