Tampa Microwave is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Manpack & Fly Away satellite terminals designed and built for the expeditionary user community to guarantee communications connectivity in the most austere environments. Tampa Microwave primarily serves Federal and Department of Defense markets.

We are seeking to fill an RF Systems Engineer position located in our Clearwater, FL location. This position reports to the Manager, Product Design.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as system architect of Tampa Microwave’s (TM) communications products. Establish communication with TM’s government and industry partners to identify future communications requirements and propose compliant solutions. 
  • Lead assigned Communications design projects that result in new or improved Tampa Microwave products.
  • Work cohesively with Program Managers and other team members to complete IRAD requirements and program gates in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate evolving technical requirements with Business Development to insure TM develops the technology required to meet future requirements in our marketplace. Create system requirements and architectures that support the company’s business development strategy.
  • Perform system requirements analysis to translate top level system requirements into more detailed hardware and software requirements.
  • Develop test specifications and verification matrices that facilitate the execution of testing to determine hardware / software compliance to Mil STD and industry standards of performance. Analyze test data to identify non-compliances and lead the engineering team in identifying corrective action. 
  • Plan and execute Requirements Verification programs that demonstrate TM products meet customer and internal requirements.
  • Participate in proposal preparation. Prepare technical descriptions that describe our solution to the customer and demonstrate our understanding of the problem. Join in proposal reviews to identify risks to cost, schedule and technical performance.
  • Participate in peer reviews to assist design engineers in avoiding mistakes that will translate into unfulfilled requirements or poor program execution.
  • Communicate with and cultivate productive relationships with current and potential customers.
  • Exhibit the following personal characteristics: superior communication skills, sound judgment, effective listening techniques and incisive deductive reasoning ability.
  • Openly display a commitment to ethical business conduct and appropriate social behavior while representing TM on or off our premises.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Level Security Clearance upon hire as required
  • Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience in a technical discipline required
  • Minimum of ten years of product development experience in engineering or product development organizations. Moderate travel required.
  • Fluent in the English language- written and oral
  • Ability to comply with all Company guidelines, policies, procedures and embrace Company Core Values. 

 

Preferred but not required qualifications: 

  • Graduate degree in engineering and/or advanced courses in technical management, engineering or science subjects preferred.
