Position Summary

Under the sponsorship of Hamilton-Madison House and in agreement with Southbridge Towers Inc. HMH will provide activities and services allowing those residing in the complex, age 60 and over, to be able to age in place and remain active and engaged members of the community for as long as possible.

The Program and Activities Coordinator is an integral part of Hamilton Madison House Older Adult and Community Services team, who will oversee the educational and recreational programming at Southbridge Towers.  This position is to maintain and develop programming that is interesting and culturally appropriate to entice attendance among the older adults at the Southbridge Towers location. This position is also responsible for advertising programs to the community. This position reports to the Assistant Executive Director of Older Adult and Community Services of Hamilton Madison House.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Program instructors and volunteers report to this position
  • Responsible for planning and conducting recreational and cultural activities
  • Responsible for planning and trainings on Elder Abuse, Crime Prevention and Safety specialized for Older Adults 
  • Coordinates trips, group activities, workshops, and special events such as holiday meals, birthday parties, special holiday celebrations, etc.
  • Coordinates the program’s volunteer activities, including working with the Volunteer Director in recruitment, screening, training, and supervision of the volunteers
  • Also coordinates inter-agency and intergenerational activities
  • Prepares fliers, newsletters, bulletin boards, activity schedules, etc.
  • Responsible for keeping volunteer and client attendance and any other individual and group activity records
  • Develops, coordinates, and runs new program activities and outreach events

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in the human service area or an Associate’s Degree or high school diploma with extensive older adult social service or recreational related experience.
  • Possess specialized skills, knowledge, or information on various recreational/educational activities
  • Warm personality and energetic, able to work with groups, especially older adults 
  • Bilingual in Chinese and English required
  • Computer Literate with experience in Microsoft Suite and basic Graphic Design Platforms Publisher or Canva
  • Bilingual preferred; English/Chinese 

Compensation$28 per hour

HoursMonday to Friday, 25 hours/week
