We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Farm Accounting Operations Manager, preferably in the Omaha office. The Farm Accounting Operations Manager is responsible for managing and supporting financial processes related to land leases, forestry hunting agreements, real estate taxes, and government payments. This role ensures accurate invoicing, payment tracking, and compliance with tax and reporting requirements. The supervisor also provides backup support for key accounting functions and contributes to system and process improvements between the accounting teams. DUTIES:  

 

Accounting Responsibilities – Accounts Receivable

  • Oversee farm cash rent process including tenant invoicing, collection of rent, communication to farm managers for aging accounts and accurately posting QR/ACH payments into receivable accounts.        
  • Accurately record receivables for Forestry Hunting Leases and issue payments to landowners 
  • Oversee the daily coding and reconciliation of the agricultural government payment receipts.
  • Assist with daily farm deposit batching and reconciliation process.
  • Oversee the setup of vendors, farm tenants, and farm clients in Enterprise One (E1).
  • Generate client and vendor 1099 forms and 1099 registers in accordance with IRS guidelines.  Assist with audits and provide documentation as needed; support process improvement to enhance efficiency and compliance
  • Oversee the in-house insurance transactions

 

 

Team Support

  • Provide backup support for key operational accounting functions, including but not limited to:
    • Assist farm accounting with daily billing invoicing and balancing to farm client accounts.
    • Assist with the generation and balancing of farm client statements.
    • Assist with the preparation of real estate tax vouchers for timely and accurate payment and verifying the correct billing to clients’ accounts.  Evaluate existing processes to support improvements.
    • Assist with farm transactions

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises 2-4 employees within the department
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred; or combination of experience and education
    1. Associate’s Degree and 4+ years work experience in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree
    2. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency and 8+ years work experience in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of experience in a corporate accounting setting
  • Proficient on Microsoft Excel and IBM Notes
  • Enterprise One accounting software package, preferred
  • Ability to work with all levels of management
