About the Timber Frame Shop Team:
Our Timber Frame Shop Team hand cuts our timber frames based on detailed shop drawings, and prepares them for installation at residential and commercial job sites across the Northeast.
Under the Timber Shop Foreman’s guidance, team members cut timber beams to exact specifications and perform various tasks at the shop using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
Your Role:
This role offers hands-on experience in timber processing and the chance to help build high-quality structures that last. Construction experience is helpful, but a willingness to learn is key. You’ll receive on-the-job training.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all instructions of the Timber Shop Team Foreman.
- Responsible for handling, processing and preparing timber materials for various construction purposes.
- Assist in cutting, stacking, and transporting timber, ensuring safety and efficiency in their tasks.
- Operate timber handling equipment, including power tools, chain saws, and other tools as needed to cut timbers.
- Communicate clearly and promptly.
- Follow detailed timber preparation instructions.
- Carefully and safely operate and maintain company equipment, including, but not limited to; telehandlers, chainsaws, mortisers, planers, large circular saws, band saws, sanders, chisels.
- Actively participate in the company safety program.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed in the shop, including but not limited to: site and shop clean up, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and vehicles, etc.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Basic familiarity and competence with common hand tools, power tools.
- A strong safety-first mindset.
- Ability to lift >100 lbs.
- Ability to understand and follow shop plans to carefully assemble and install timbers and structural insulated panels.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- A sturdy professional attitude.
- Ability to safely operate circular saws, planers, mortisers, chainsaws, and other heavy, sharp cutting tools.
- Can-do, positive mindset.
Additional Nice-To-Have Skills and Experience:
- 2+ years of carpentry/timber framing/construction experience.
- Vocational or technical school training and certification.
- Experience with following carpentry/timber design plans.
- Passion for Timber Frame and SIP construction methodology.
- Military experience.
- Forklift and/or telescopic handler (Lull) operating experience.
- General repair/maintenance experience.
