Responsibilities:

The senior accountant/analyst is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts.
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
  • Prepare financial management reports.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close.
  • Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting and control procedures.
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Continuous support of budget and forecasted activities.
  • Financial audit preparation and coordination.
  • Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues/expenses.
  • Complete Account Reconciliations
  • Assist with SOX Compliance
  • Analyze and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends.
  • Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Special projects as assigned.

 

The Senior Accountant/Analyst may specialize in one area of the accounting function.  Additional specific tasks may include the following:

  • Compile and analyze financial statements
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly exhibits and schedules
  • Calculate and prepare monthly journal entries
  • Analysis monthly data
  • Prepare required and requested reinsurance statistics and exhibits
  • Prepare and file insurance regulatory reports

May perform other functions as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Five plus years of relevant accounting experience
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Strong PC skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to improve work processes
  • Ability to manage a special project team
  • Team player with initiative

Education 

  • B.S. Accounting or equivalent
