About the Opportunity:
Brown University’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) brings a Brown education to new audiences of learners: those focused on the development of skills and a breadth of knowledge necessary for professional success and leadership. We leverage Brown’s intellectual centers of excellence, rigorous teaching, and developmental approach to learning in a range of programs, including serving students outside of traditional degree programs. We partner with Brown departments, centers, institutes, and schools to develop degree and non-degree programs, and to support the recruitment, retention, and placement success of master’s students, including traditional, non-traditional, and professional students.
Responsibilities:
The Marketing Content Manager develops, implements and oversees comprehensive content strategies that drive brand awareness, support enrollment goals and engage a diverse community of stakeholders for Brown's School of Professional Studies and its expanding portfolio of master's programs, executive education offerings and mindfulness programs.
This position manages the content strategy, from ideation and creation to distribution and performance analysis, across multiple channels, including the school's website, email campaigns, social platforms and paid advertising. The role ensures consistent, high-quality, and strategically aligned content across all touchpoints and includes a focus on internal communications for senior leadership, alumni storytelling and implementation of the brand story.
The Marketing Content Manager reports to the Associate Director of Marketing and supervises a Content Marketing Specialist. The position requires close collaboration with marketing team members, enrollment and recruitment teams, academic directors and senior leadership to deliver
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or similar
Minimum 5 years of experience in content creation, marketing, communications or related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Job Competencies
Superb writing, editing, proofreading and verbal communication skills
Excellent organization, project management and content production skills involving the execution of multiple, simultaneous projects
Data-driven and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills; Solutions-focused mindset and ability to turn data into actionable insights
Ability to meet stringent deadlines, work effectively and troubleshoot in a high-volume, ever-changing work environment
Experience with web content management systems, such as Drupal
Familiarity with social media marketing (content development and analytics)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
Willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
Preferred Job Competencies
Experience working with Slate or other CRM systems
Strong understanding of content practices such as SEO, SMO, and PPC
Design and layout skills – sourcing and editing photos as necessary and ensuring that they are properly laid out, eye for presenting visual material
Advertising, visual design, or web production experience
Experience in education, launching and marketing new products to adult markets
Experience with layout/design programs such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)
