This position works in the Sewer Operations, Maintenance and Construction organizational unit. This is skilled technical work in the inspections of underground sewer installations using closed circuit television equipment. An incumbent performs routine maintenance and repair on equipment and initiates corrective action for detected problems. An incumbent also maintains related records, prepares time sheets and produces work orders from the maintenance management system. Duties are performed according to a predetermined schedule and to established methods and practices. Work performance is reviewed by a supervisor in terms of conformance to established standards and effective services rendered. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include the completion of the Grade 12 supplemented by technical training leading to CCTV certification plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures, materials, tools and equipment used in storm and sanitary sewer maintenance, repair and minor construction projects. Sound knowledge of the use and maintenance of closed circuit television and video tape equipment used in underground inspection work. Sound knowledge of the hazards, safety precautions and WCB regulations pertaining to the work. Working knowledge of the capabilities of the maintenance management system. Ability to plan, assign, supervise and assist in the work of labourers engaged in inspection and minor repair of storm and sanitary sewers systems.
A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia, Environmental Operator Certification Program (EOCP) – Wastewater Collection I Certificate, and Pipeline Assessment and Certification Program (PACP) is required.
