Description:

We are seeking a Proposition & Innovation Specialist to join the Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB) team in our London office.

Please note this is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Join our dynamic Proposition & Innovation team at MMB, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of employee benefits solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic, innovative, and stakeholder-savvy professional to take a senior role in a team of proposition specialists, drive new product development, and foster impactful partnerships. You will influence medium- and long-term growth strategies, working at the intersection of market trends, client needs, and emerging technologies such as AI and wellbeing initiatives.

What can you expect in this role?

  • Take a senior role responsible for ideating, developing, and managing innovative propositions across the full spectrum of employee benefits, including healthcare, risk, lifestyle, and wellbeing.

  • Drive diversification and profitable growth by assessing market opportunities, managing partnerships, and bringing new solutions to market from concept through to launch and post-implementation review.

  • Engage with senior internal and external stakeholders, including provider partners, to ensure propositions are aligned with strategic objectives and have client impact.

  • Play a key role in shaping MMB UK’s medium- and long-term growth strategy, leveraging insights, market trends, and emerging concepts such as AI, DEI, and purpose-driven benefits.

  • Foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and continuous improvement, encouraging the team to challenge norms and explore new ideas

We will count on you to:

  • Assess the viability of new propositions using market and internal insights.

  • Lead or support the development of propositions and partnerships, managing them from initial concept to post-launch growth.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with provider and partner organizations, representing MMB.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, consulting, commercial enablement) to maximize proposition reach and client impact.

  • Prioritise initiatives based on client and revenue potential, ensuring focus on high-impact opportunities.

  • Supporting the development of a strategic roadmap of propositions that shape our go-to-market approach.

  • Manage stakeholder engagement, ensuring alignment and support across the business.

  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and societal shifts to inform proposition development.

What you need to have:

  • Product knowledge and market experience – A deep understanding in some of the following proposition areas is desirable: corporate healthcare, group risk, flexible benefits, and lifestyle and wellbeing. A deep technical knowledge would be advantageous although is not a prerequisite.

  • The ability to grasp new concepts and visualise them in a workplace context assists us to quickly identify which concepts to take forward, and which to park.

  • Advanced stakeholder management – The ability to balance and adapt to the needs of a range of individuals and groups of stakeholders at all levels of seniority is vital to bringing ideas and partnerships to life. Our team is ultimately one of change management and bringing the business on a journey is vital to it feeling part of the change, as opposed to having change done ‘to it’.

  • Commercial acumen – An ability to negotiate strong commercial outcomes, balancing the needs and requirements of our provider partners and our MMB business. Commercial arrangements also need to be fair, transparent, and work within our boundaries as a market-leader consulting firm operating in a highly regulated market.

  • Ability to build relationships and network – The ability to build and maintain a trusted network, internally and externally. Being a senior role within the business, the candidate would hold and develop senior relationships with external providers and also be a point of contact for new providers seeking to partner with MMB.

  • Project prioritisation and workload management – It is critical to this role that the candidate can apply focus and prioritisation in areas where client and revenue impact will be the greatest.

What makes you stand out?

  • A track record of leading strategic initiatives that have driven growth and innovation.

  • Ability to challenge constructively and think creatively about future opportunities.

  • People management experience is a plus, as is a passion for shaping the future of workplace benefits.

Why join our team:

  • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.

  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.

  • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
