The Network Engagement Coordinator will collaborate with leaders of partner agencies and member programs within a designated territory of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina’s service area. In partnership with agencies, the Coordinator will help ensure the safety and integrity of local food distribution. They will also strengthen community relationships—leveraging the collective resources and voices of the Food Bank and its agency network to advocate on behalf of historically resilient communities.


The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, federal, Feeding America, and Food Bank regulatory guidelines. In addition, they will support the implementation and use of technology to advance departmental objectives. The Coordinator will also foster ongoing engagement between agencies and the Food Bank through activities such as regular food distribution, consistent communication with Food Bank staff, and participation in agency meetings.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist, organize and develop community organizations in resourceful communities; maintain effective lines of communication between agencies and the Food Bank and among agencies themselves; help link agencies with their own local resources both public and private to assist agencies in accomplishing their mission.  
  • Provide support to the appropriate teams to recruit agencies in identified areas, assist with agency Open House meetings, and guide potential agencies through the agency application process.  
  • Recommends termination and suspension of agencies as appropriate.  
  • Conduct site monitoring visits of agencies to ensure safe food storage and handling and ensure the practice of good stewardship of Food Bank product and appropriate record keeping; maintain updated reports of agency visits.  
  • Encourages and ensures the provision of technical assistance needed by agencies, assist with capacity assessment and development and maintain methodology of categorizing agencies by service, capacity and scope of work. Much of this work will be done through the agency optimization process, which will include surveys of and follow up with partner agencies.  
  • Support local food distribution and food systems in assigned areas; work with the Food Bank staff to support such systems. Assist in the development of regional food security plans by working with agencies, local community and governmental organizations and people facing food insecurity.  
  • Be knowledgeable of the population and needs of assigned service area; coordinate state, regional and local resources as requested, appropriate and available to meet those needs as defined in the Food Bank’s mission.  
  • Implement departmental work plans.  
  • Plan, participate in and facilitate (as needed) agency “Listen & Learn” sessions and other agency meetings.    
  • Support efforts to expand participation in nutrition programs.  
  • Assist the Development team in fundraising and public relations when appropriate.  
  • Actively participate in team processes to create a high functioning support system for agencies and a high functioning department.

Minimum Requirements


Education:

  • Associate’s degree in Social Sciences, Human Services, Non-Profit Management or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.   


Experience:

  • 2+ years in nonprofit partner relations, community engagement, account management, or customer service.
  • 2+ years organizing meetings/trainings and managing content in a portal or client relationship management system preferred.  


Skills and Competencies:

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), computer equipment and standard office equipment.
  • Organization & Time Management: Exceptional ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Self-Directed & Accountable: Proactive, results-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability for outcomes.
  • Collaboration & Relationship Building: Skilled in fostering partnerships, building effective work teams, and engaging diverse stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
  • Communication Excellence: Outstanding interpersonal skills; persuasive verbal and written communicator able to adapt messages to different audiences.
  • Bilingual Skills: Ability to speak and write in Spanish highly preferred.
  • Nonprofit Experience: Prior experience in nonprofit or mission-driven environments preferred.
  • Equity & Social Justice Commitment: Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people and a demonstrated commitment to advancing social justice and food equity.
  • Driving Requirements: Valid North Carolina driver’s license and excellent driving record; ability to travel extensively throughout the Food Bank’s 34-county service area.
  • Mission Alignment: Deep belief in and dedication to the Food Bank’s mission, values, and community impact.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly, hear, and interact effectively with others without deliberate impediment (e.g., wearing or listening to headphones). The employee frequently sits and uses hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects and equipment. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, crawl, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

Work Environment


While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee will work in a variety of settings, including an office environment, warehouse, and off-site partner or community locations. This requires frequent travel by automobile, transit van, or large truck within the Food Bank’s 34-county service area.


In warehouse and kitchen environments, the employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, temperature fluctuations, and moderate noise levels.
