IT Technician

Location: Denver – Onsite

Summary
Colorado Network Staffing, Inc. (CNS) is seeking a capable and motivated IT Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, electrical systems, and control technology within a water and wastewater treatment environment. This role involves hands-on technical work with access control, security systems, sensors, actuators, and control infrastructure while supporting safe and efficient operations across facilities.


Essential Functions

This position will perform the following key responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, repair, and calibrate electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, including actuators, sensors, detectors, analyzers, and controllers.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to access control, security cameras, and badging systems.

  • Perform wiring, conduit installation, and panel testing related to instrumentation and control systems.

  • Use diagnostic tools and logical troubleshooting methods to identify and resolve system issues.

  • Assist with PLC, DCS, and HMI equipment support and configuration.

  • Maintain and update control panels and related I/O devices, including revisions to documentation.

  • Support monitoring of process control systems; update system software based on operational needs.

  • Perform inspection and maintenance (I&M) checks on instrumentation and control systems.

  • Record work performed, equipment history, and materials used in a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

  • Support calibration and maintenance schedule development for instrumentation.

  • Follow all required safety procedures, including use of PPE and adherence to safety regulations.

  • Participate in IT and/or ICS incident response activities when needed.

  • Assist in configuring and installing radio equipment and maintaining radio network profiles.

  • Provide on-call support when scheduled or needed.

  • Perform other related duties to support facility operations.

Qualifications


Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience in IT systems, control systems, or electrical/instrumentation environments.

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.

  • Cybersecurity training or certifications preferred.

  • Industrial controls or electrical certifications preferred.

  • Any equivalent combination of education, certification, or experience will be considered.


Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

  • Valid Class 'R' Colorado driver’s license required with a satisfactory driving record.

  • ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Fundamentals Specialist certification preferred.


Work Environment

Work is performed in both office and field environments, including treatment facilities and remote sites. Exposure to electrical systems, hazardous materials, noise, and inclement weather is expected.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Stand, walk, kneel, and climb ladders

  • Use hand tools and diagnostic instruments

  • Lift and carry tools, equipment, or parts up to 50 pounds

  • Wear appropriate PPE for electrical and mechanical environments


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time, on-site position.

  • Standard schedule: Monday – Friday (subject to shift or on-call assignments)

  • Assignment Length: Ongoing
