Our clinic is a dynamic place to work, practice, and grow. We have 4 primary care health centers s and deliver integrated services including behavioral health, Pharmacy, Dental, specialty referrals, chronic disease management, health education, and much, much more. UNHS is hiring a Part-Time position for a Patient Transport Dispatcher.
  • Location: Montezuma Creek, Utah
  • Part time 29 hours per week
  • Wage depends on experience

Critical Tasks:

  1. Monitor the schedules of each driver and adjust the schedule accordingly.
  2. Maintain a positive attitude for patients with empathy and respect for your co-workers and clients.
  3. Assign vehicles and equipment to drivers.
  4. Transport intakes on the phone, in person or with other UNHS departments.
  5. Prioritize trips, if necessary and provide clear instructions to drivers and clients.
  6. Evaluate and respond to unexpected situations.
  7. Experience working with elders and people with disabilities.
  8. Must be fluent in speaking Navajo.
  9. Arrive to work 5 minutes before your scheduled shift.
  10. Transport NEMT clients to and from Utah Medicaid Provider agencies, providing door to door assistance when needed.
  11. Arrange transports when the requests come through Athena, Answerconnect, etc.
  12. Document patient appointment information including mileage or any transport changes
  13. Arrange long distance hotel stays and routes when needed.
  14. Inspect PT Transport vehicles when needed.
  15. May assume other duties of transport office dispatcher as assigned.

Requirements

  1. Open communication with drivers, other departments and management through phone, messages, email and Athena.
  2. Communicate with the personnel responsible for receiving and transmitting messages to drivers, management and clients while tracking vehicles and assigned transportation.
  3. Geographic knowledge of UNHS Utah service area
  4. Scheduling and completing transport requests by the Utah Department of Health eligibility requirements for traditional Medicaid clients.
  5. Arrange home visits when requested.
  6. Knowledge of wheelchair, gurney van use and operations.
  7. Knowledge or training in Child Passenger Safety.
  8. Be responsible for completing all transport requests taken by phone, email, Athena, answerconnect, etc.
  9. High School Diploma Required

Experience, Training, and Qualifications needed to perform the job:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Two years experience in an operation,
  3. environment, scheduling and/or dispatching
  4. Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
  5. Google drives knowledge, multi-tasking skills, customer service

As a Tribal Organization the Utah Navajo Health System, Inc. (UNHS) treats patients with high risk and underlying chronic medical conditions. Therefore, UNHS requires its employees to show proof of immunization prior to their employment with UNHS or during their employment. Below is a list of immunizations/vaccinations required to be employed or to continue employment with UNHS.
The immunizations/vaccinations include but not limited to following:

  • MMR (Measles Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): Documentation of two MMR vaccines (OR) Documentation of MMR titers.
  • Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses), documented proof of titers indicating immunity, or a declination that may be signed upon arrival.
  • Proof of up-to-date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x-ray and treatment history.
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap).
  • Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series.
  • Influenza vaccine for the current year.
  • COVID-19 vaccine
  • Any other vaccinations as requested.
