POSITION:                        Stay & Play Parent / Toddler Program - Lead Instructor

LOCATION:   P-CCS Community Education at Allen Early Learning

JOB SUMMARY:

Guide 2-3 year olds in a small group learning structure. Cover various topics through hands-on activities with parent in-class involvement throughout the course of the school year.

*Program runs between September and June. Additional hours for training, prep and tear-down just prior to / after session dates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate.
Minimum of 60 hours of college course work preferred.
Demonstrate aptitude, competence and/or previous experience working with young children.
Good attendance record.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary staff member responsible for planning and implementing a program which provides for physical activities, self-expression through arts, crafts and play, socialization with peers, and parent interaction.
Introduce age-appropriate, educational concepts through a variety of small & large motor and sensory based activities, both indoors and outdoors.
Preparation of materials and daily snack, organization of centers, and end of day clean-up.
Provide a safe, nurturing, child-oriented environment while meeting required district health & safety guidelines.
Establish good rapport with other staff, parents, and students enrolled in the program.
Works cooperatively with site team, Community Education Coordinator, Allen building administrator, and building staff to share space.
Complete all appropriate paperwork including but not limited to lesson plans, purchase order requisitions, attendance records, accident reports, contact logs.
Performs other tasks as assigned by the Community Education Coordinator.

REPORTS TO: Coordinator, Community Education

RATE OF PAY:                  $18.09 per hour

HOURS: Mondays 9:00-11:30am
Tuesdays/Wednesdays 9:00am-2:30pm
Thursdays 8:30-11:00am.

Some additional set-up / clean-up time may be required, dependent upon lesson plan for the week.

Estimated at 16 hours class time with up to 4-6 additional hours of planning per week.

Staff training and classroom set-up in late August / early September. Program conclusion and tear-down in early June.

*There are currently four morning & two afternoon sessions scheduled for the upcoming school year. However, the total number of sessions held will be dependent on meeting the required minimum level of students enrolled per course. Total weekly hours may vary slightly if any sessions need to be combined or cancelled.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.

Upon recommendation for employment, Section 1230g, as amended, of the Revised School Code requires all school employees to be electronically finger printed for the purpose of undergoing a criminal history background check. The fingerprinting is conducted by a third party and is at the expense of the applicant. Cost for fingerprinting is approximately $70.00.
