Auditor 9-P11
This position is responsible for the full range of professional on-site or in-house audits and/or investigations for all Department of Health and Human Services providers located and assigned to the LTC Grand Rapids Region Section under prior, current and future methods of reimbursement.  The position is responsible for insuring, through audit, that costs and/or statistical data claimed for reimbursement are allowable and appropriate according to federal and state laws or regulations, applicable state plans for Medical Assistance and Department Policy.  The work requires utilization of the laws, regulations, rules, standards, policies and procedures of professional auditing.  Although auditing assignments will vary according to need, the emphasis is nursing home auditing.  Typically the audits will involve nursing homes, hospitals, and county medical care facilities.

Auditor 12

This position functions as a senior level auditor in the Department of Health and Human Services-LTC Reimbursement and Audit Division, Western Region. The employee in this position is responsible for performing the most complex on-site or in-house audits, reviews, or conducts investigations of nursing homes, hospitals, county medical care facilities, health maintenance organizations, and public health programs under current and future methods of reimbursement.

The purpose is to satisfy the federal mandate for auditing Medicaid Providers and to ensure that the provider's reimbursement is in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the State Medicaid Reimbursement Programs and Procedures. The work requires the utilization of the laws, regulations, rules, standards, policies and procedures of professional auditing.

Position Duties

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.

Experience

Auditor 9
No specific type or amount is required.

Auditor 10
One year of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor 9.

Auditor P11
Two years of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor, including one year equivalent to an Auditor 10.

Auditor 12
Three years of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor, including one year equivalent to an Auditor P11.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant certification (CPA) may be substituted for one year of experience at the P11 level.

OR

Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of experience at the P11 level.
 

Possession of a Certified Internal Auditor certification or a Certified Information System Auditor certification may be substituted for one year of experience at the P11 level for positions responsible for internal auditing.

OR

Possession of a bachelor's degree with 24 semester credits (36 term) in finance, information systems, or management may be substituted for the education for positions responsible for internal auditing.

Other Qualifications

The physical location of this position is 121 Martin Luther King Jr, SE, Grand Rapids. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.
 
Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.  

Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
 

  • A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
  • A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
  • Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
