What's the role?
Travel Insider is the digital arm of Qantas magazine and an exceptional opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated digital editor to join the team on a 12 month fixed term contract.
The digital editor will have their finger on the pulse of SEO/AEO best practice, be able to confidently use data and search trends to inform new content concepts for the site and continually seek opportunities for growth. A digital all-rounder who is comfortable with all aspects of working in a digital ecosystem – from social platforms to EDMs and search engine optimisation – the successful applicant will write, edit, optimise and produce innovative content on the Travel Insider website on a daily basis and other platforms as required.
Reporting to the Travel Insider Managing Editor, the successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring that the content for Travel Insider is strategic, engaging, of the highest quality and of course, inspires travel. A strong track record of ideation, writing and editing across editorial and native content is essential, together with an understanding of travel and the processes and pressures of operating in a fast-paced editorial environment.
Duties and responsibilities
Conceptualise, create and edit content that is on brand, engages the audience and is of the highest quality while working at pace.
Work closely with the Travel Insider Managing Editor to understand Qantas objectives and guide content development based on their goals
Help deliver on the multichannel content strategy, aligning with the Qantas brand and consumer to deliver traffic growth in line with agreed targets
Track search trends and data using tools such as SEMRush to make data-driven decisions to continually improve content and business KPIs
Optimise content for SEO/AEO best practice (alt tags, captions, content structure etc) and user experience on all channels, including web, social media, mobile and video
Regularly monitor the site’s performance and adjust strategy accordingly
Keep abreast of and regularly update the content team on developments in international best practice content strategy and deployment
Assist in managing the editorial budget to ensure effective distribution of budget
Drive new ideas and innovation
Who are you?
This is a highly operational role – spanning uploading and optimising articles to image research, SEO, AEO and content management – the successful candidate must be prepared to work across the site at all levels.
It is a key requirement that candidates have deep digital experience and strong analytical skills and solid understanding of EDM production and SEO best practice and a proactive approach to AEO.
3-5 years of proven experience as a digital producer working directly in a CMS and across social platforms
Relevant tertiary degree
In depth understanding of SEO, Adobe/Google Analytics and CMS
Excellent writing, editing and subbing skills
Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently
Commercial skills in helping to drive revenue growth
Exemplary client service and a willingness to exceed client expectations
Able to present trends and insights in a meaningful and objective way
