Summary: 

The Director of Seats Engineering will lead the design, development, certification, and continuous improvement of premium business class aircraft seating products. This role combines technical leadership, team development, employee development, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic oversight to deliver innovative, compliant, and customer-focused seating solutions that meet stringent aerospace standards and airline expectations.

Technical Competencies:

  • Deep knowledge of aerospace certification processes and manufacturing methods for seating.
  • Must have prior hands-on experience with the engineering design life cycle.
  • Expertise in CAD and PLM systems (e.g., CATIA, NX, Teamcenter, Enovia).
  • DFMA Expertise   Applies Design for Manufacture and Assembly principles to reduce complexity, improve manufacturability, and optimize cost without compromising quality.


Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering required.
  • Master s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or MBA preferred
  • 12+ years in aerospace business class seating, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of managing complex, multi-year engineering programs.

  • Ability to navigate and negotiate in a highly regulated environment.

Performance Metrics:

  • On-time, on-budget delivery of engineering programs.

  • Implementation of cost-reduction and product improvement initiatives.

Work Environment & Physical Expectations

Mainly situated in a standard office setting where noise levels are low, this role may require time spent in manufacturing areas which have varying degrees of noise levels.  This role requires visiting testing laboratories and light manufacturing areas.
