About the Role

An experienced and reliable APD with proven clinical skills is required for this Weekend Dietitian position. Working every second weekend (8 hours Saturday, on-call Sunday), the successful applicant will be required to work independently to cover critical care and acute care wards. Prior experience in the intensive care and surgical settings will be highly regarded.

  • Provide patient-centred, timely and effective clinical management across the continuum of care - assessment, intervention, re-evaluation, documentation, team liaison and discharge planning

  • Maintain current knowledge and skills in clinical best practice of clinical units assigned

  • Actively participate in departmental clinical supervision program


Classifications for this position will range from AJ1 - AJ4 ($47.87 per hour - $54.10 per hour).

Your Contribution

  • Qualifications providing eligibility for full membership of Dietitians Australia and the APD program

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ post-graduate experience in a relevant field of clinical dietetics. Prior experience in a tertiary hospital environment will be highly regarded.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills that incorporate the qualities of excellent communication and teamwork

  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

Nutrition Department
The Nutrition Department provides Nutrition & Dietetics services to all areas of SVHM including acute and sub-acute inpatients at Fitzroy, St Georges Hospital, designated outpatient clinics, and the community Residential Care Facilities.  The Nutrition Department is a core placement site for the clinical supervision of Nutrition and Dietetic students and has several research interests.

LOCAL WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Nutrition Department provides a quality service to all areas of St Vincent’s including acute and sub-acute in patients, outpatients, St Georges Health Service, Caritas Christi Hospice and the Residential Care Facilities.  The Nutrition Department is a core placement site for the clinical supervision of Nutrition and Dietetic students and provides comprehensive clinical teaching placements

POSITION PURPOSE

Accountable to the Chief Dietitian, this position is responsible for the delivery of high quality nutrition services to assigned inpatient units at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. These services will be provided at the highest clinical standard & will be delivered in a cost effective & efficient manner in accordance with the strategic direction of the Nutrition Department and St. Vincent’s, ensuring that client’s needs are met and they receive ‘the right treatment in the right place at the right time’.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Assess, treat and manage clients throughout the continuum of care in the most appropriate location, based on the client’s needs
  • Provide appropriate, timely and effective clinical management to all patients through assessment, treatment / management, re-evaluation, documentation, team liaison and discharge planning
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills in clinical best practice of clinical units assigned
  • Establish, develop and maintain strong and positive working relationships within relevent care teams, referral sources, participating agencies and other service providers
  • Contribute to quality improvement and research initiatives (includes working groups, projects, audits, discipline related projects) as delegated
  • Maintain accurate statistics and submit by 3rd working day of the following month
  • Maintain the appropriate standard of medical record keeping and data collection as per St. Vincent’s and Nutrition Department policies
  • Maintain confidentiality related to information management as per St Vincent’s policies

4.INCUMBENT OBLIGATIONS

6.SELECTION CRITERIA

6.1ESSENTIAL REGISTRATION, LICENSE OR QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications providing eligibility for full membership of DAA and the APD program
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence

6.2OTHER ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ post-graduate experience in a relevant field of clinical dietetics
  • Highly developed skills of prioritising, organisation, planning and problem solving
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills that incorporate the qualities of excellent communication and leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to work both in an interdisciplinary team and independently
  • Commitment to the values and health care philosophy of St. Vincent’s Health Australia
  • Evidence of ongoing education/professional development relevant to Dietetic practice

6.3OTHER NON ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Working towards post graduate qualifications in a relevant area
  • Knowledge and commitment to quality improvement within relvant Health Service accreditation framework.
