A Journeyperson is a professional designation, and therefore they are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that portrays professionalism in all aspects of their work.
Tasks/Responsibilities
- Hold a valid Certificate of Qualification, for the trade sector in which they are performing work (i.e. Construction & Maintenance- 309A, Industrial-442, Domestic & Rural-309C).
- Must be able to take full ownership of the Journeyperson role. This includes admitting when mistakes have happened, taking corrective actions to fix those mistakes, and learning from the process.
- Be able to read and understand construction and schematic drawings, specifications, and scope of work documents.
- Be able to effectively use the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, to perform work that is compliant to the Ontario Electrical Code.
- Be responsible for helping to teach (and be willing to learn from) other employees, including other Journeypersons, apprentices, and technicians.
- Must be a self-starter who can work independently when required.
- Be able to understand how machines and systems work through discussions with operations personnel.
- Perform work in a neat and professional manner that meets the expectations of our company, and of our customers.
- Ensure our job sites and work areas are kept tidy and organized, for both safety and efficiency purposes.
- Complete work orders at the end of each day and keep track of material used on the job.
- Be willing and able to gain a detailed understanding of the tasks you are required to perform, through effective communication with peers and/or customers.
- Other duties as directed
Requirements
- Must have 2 – 3 years’ licensed experience
- All employees must follow our company safety policies, and the safety policies of the site at which we are working (in every case, the more stringent policy will always take precedence).
- Required to provide personal hand tools (tool pouch/box with screwdrivers, pliers, etc. All other tools (electrical or cordless) will be provided.
- Must be capable of working at heights; on lifts, ladders, or elevated work platforms, and use the required PPE.
- Required to provide approved safety footwear, that meets our PPE policy. (Safety boot allowance of $300 will be provided after 3 month probation period).
- Must inspect and maintain issued PPE and notify Stores when the PPE becomes damaged or needs replacing.
- All employees must complete their timesheet daily, ensuring accuracy by communicating effectively with the foreperson assigned to the job(s) they were working on.
- Must be willing and able to work as a team with clients and other employees.
- Be proactively involved with problem solving and process improvement initiatives.
- Cleanliness and organization is required from everyone. Everything has a place and everything is to be kept in it’s place (including waste materials)!
- Employees are to wear clothing that that is tidy and free from holes, rips, tears… offering a professional appearance. No alcohol/drug related messages, profane or potentially offensive images/verbiage on apparel will be tolerated. Please wear company supplied shirts whenever possible.

- Monday to Friday: 7:00AM - 3:30PM
