Subcontract Administrator
Our Shipyard History: Founded in 1916 by D. R. Dunlap, our Gulf Coast shipyard first began as the Alabama Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Company. It was one of the original nine emergency yards funded by the U.S. Maritime Commission during WWII, becoming one of the largest employers in Southern Alabama while producing Liberty Ships and T-2 Tankers for the war effort. Over the years, the shipyard has employed thousands of people, notably including Jimmy Buffett, his dad JD Buffett, and Hank Williams Sr. Now called Alabama Shipyard, our fully-equipped facility is a fundamental part of Mobile’s history. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Interprets contractual requirements, collaborates with internal departments to draft and amend agreements, and negotiates contract terms and conditions with the Company’s suppliers and subcontractors.
Essential job duties include:
- Prepare, review, and negotiate supplier/subcontractor contracts
- Negotiate contract terms and prepare final contract packages for execution
- Participate in the formulation, development, implementation, and revision of the Company’s supplier/subcontractor terms & conditions and other contract forms
- Research regulatory requirements and updates related to Government projects
- Develop and critically review policies and procedures related to the area of responsibility and ensure implementation of these policies and procedures, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
- Maintain compliance with Company policies and procedures.
- Evaluate subcontractor proposals and issue Subcontract Purchase Orders in accordance with company policies and project requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in commercial or government contracting, or a related field, demonstrating the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Associate's degree or higher preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily demonstrate the following:
- Experience in maritime subcontracting or a closely related field
- Self-motivated, well-organized, and detail-oriented with the flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Works well independently as well as in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Required
