TruckPro is seeking a Service Writer who will initiate medium and heavy-duty truck and trailer services and repairs by determining performance problems and services requested, verifying warranty and service contract coverage, developing estimates, writing repair orders and maintaining customer records. This position will also assist the Service Manager with the overall daily operations such as physical inventories, maintain adequate inventory levels, reporting, etc).

Service Writer Responsibilities Include:
- Determine problems and services by listening to customer’s descriptions of symptoms, clarifying description problems, conducting inspections, checking maintenance records, and examining service schedules
- Discuss repairs and findings with mechanics and documents accordingly
- Verify warranty and service contract coverage by examining records
- Obtain authorizations and produce estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor
- Prepare repair orders by describing symptoms, problems and causes discovered
- Maintain customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle
- Maintain records by recording problems and corrective actions planned
- Obtain parts for mechanics and assists with maintenance of shop equipment
- Perform other duties as needed
Service Writer Candidates Will Have:
- 2-5 yrs related experience as Service Writer or Lead Mechanic
- Knowledge of medium/heavy-duty diesel trucks & trailers required
- Comprehensive understanding of service operations in the heavy-duty truck industry
- Excellent customer service
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills required
- Demonstrated mechanical inclination and interest in the heavy-duty industry
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Organized and has ability to multi-task
- Proficient with MS Office Suite products with ability to conduct basic tasks in Excel
