Position Summary:
The EHR Support Analyst is responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, training, and optimization for electronic health record (EHR) systems. This role bridges the gap between clinical staff and IT, ensuring that EHR systems function effectively to support patient care and clinical operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line support for EHR system issues reported by end users (e.g., physicians, nurses, medical assistants).
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to software, user access, workflows, and data entry.
- Escalate complex issues to EHR vendors or internal IT teams as needed.
- Assist with EHR system configuration, updates, and user account management.
- Maintain templates, order sets, forms, and workflows within the EHR.
- Participate in system testing, validation, and rollout of new features or upgrades.
- Run standard or ad-hoc reports for clinical, operational, or compliance needs.
- Monitor data quality and consistency, identifying and correcting discrepancies.
- Support Meaningful Use, MIPS, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Onboard and train new staff on EHR usage.
- Develop and update user guides, cheat sheets, and training materials.
- Offer one-on-one coaching or group sessions to improve EHR adoption and efficiency.
- Work closely with clinical staff, IT, compliance officers, and vendor support.
- Participate in committees or project teams for EHR optimization, implementation, or compliance
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in health information management, Information Systems, Nursing, or related field.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, athenahealth).
- Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare data privacy requirements.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic databases
- Certification in specific EHR software (e.g., Epic Certified, Cerner Certification, athenahealth training).
- Prior experience working in clinical settings.
- Knowledge of medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) and healthcare workflows.
- Experience with ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Tikit.
