So, what will the Senior-Level Operations Analyst – Technical SME in IAMD at Terrestris do?

The Senior-Level Operations Analyst – Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) will provide advanced technical and operational expertise in support of the Surface Warfare Training Development (SWTD) Division at NSWC Dahlgren, VA. This role supports the development, assessment, and delivery of Navy IAMD training, wargaming, and fleet readiness initiatives. The candidate will leverage extensive operational experience with the Aegis Combat System, Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), and related IAMD capabilities to advise senior leaders, enhance fleet war fighting effectiveness, and shape future training and doctrine.

What does a typical day look like for the Senior-Level Operations Analyst – Technical SME in IAMD?

You will:

  • Review and provide recommendations on content and presentation for new/emerging Navy/Joint warfare system concepts, tactics, techniques and procedures publications as well as any existing publications under revision.
  • Conduct research and evaluation to support development of C5I, weapons and surveillance system capabilities to include the deployment of new or improved systems across IAMD, ASW/ASUW, EW, cyber and space domain related systems.
  • Make presentations and write technical reports and papers describing objectives, procedures and results (new or improved techniques, monitoring processes, reporting, statistics, etc.) of studies, analyses, experiments and/or investigations.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of combat, weapons and surveillance systems to ensure they meet operational and technical requirements in support of fleet operations in both contested and un-contested environments.
  • Validate and document that emerging technologies and combat systems components will close identified lethality gaps across SWTD assigned warfare areas.
  • Identify, document and present issues related to command and control between fleet units, systems and sub-systems across IAMD/ASW/ASUW/EW and other warfare areas.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret operational, tactical and system data from fleet units including mission reports, intelligence briefings, performance metrics, firing reports and data extraction efforts from real-world, RDT&E and training events.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the professional we’re looking for if you have:

  • Possess current Security Clearance of SECRET and TS//SCI eligible.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations research, systems analysis, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • A minimum of 12 years of military experience, and/or relevant industry and/or government experience with the navy’s surface combat systems, C5I, networks, weapons systems and IAMD planning tools/systems.
  • Five (5) years of experience aboard Navy cruisers, destroyers, frigates or within qualified Department of Defense warfare areas.
  • Qualified and experienced in a watch station with the authority to employ the Aegis Weapon System (i.e. Tactical Action Officer (TAO), Air Warfare Coordinator (AAWC), Battle Watch Captain).
  • Possess a Tactical Action Officer Qualification letter or BMD Watch Officer qualification letter.
  • Experience in Navy Combat Systems development.
  • Experience in Rapid Capability Development process.
  • Experience in Review and Collaboration on Navy Technical Documentation.
  • Understanding of DOTMLPF Process.
  • Experience and understanding of Navy T&E process.
  • Ability to provide clear, actionable recommendations in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders at multiple levels.
