Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Payroll Manager to lead and optimize our multi-state payroll processing in US & Canada. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing payroll and providing oversite of all aspects of the payroll procedures and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

The Payroll Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate payment of employee compensation by administering the company’s bi-weekly payroll through ADP.  This position is responsible for adherence to all relevant payroll laws, policies, and procedures in relevant jurisdictions.  Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the payroll manager will provide customer support to all employees for payroll and expense management questions and work as the technical lead for any processing issues. This position will ensure accurate payroll reporting and analytics to leadership to ensure a good understanding of budgeted and forecasting payroll variances. 

Position in Detail:

  • Leads the preparation and administration of payroll for all U.S. and Canadian employees, including auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy, and resolving errors as needed, with our ADP payroll processor.
  • Key customer service to support all employees with any payroll-related questions.
  • Strong process-oriented individual that sets a cadence of processing, reporting and controls around the payroll function.
  • Manages the set up and ongoing employment tax compliance in all jurisdictions.
  • Ensures that all compensation is paid accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates all ad hoc, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll processes, reconciliations, and remittances.
  • Maintains detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements. 
  • Stays abreast of compliance requirements and industry best practices; recommends changes or modifications to existing policies and programs to remain in compliance; and adopts best practices where feasible.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, related field, or commensurate working experience.
  • 5 + years of experience in multi-state payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role. 
  • Proven experience leading a high-performing payroll team, with a focus on meeting performance targets, KPIs, and metrics related to speed, accuracy, and follow-up.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data and metrics to drive process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 
  • Flexibility and strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment. 
  • Strong sense of ethics and the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive and private information with tact and discretion.
  • In depth knowledge of payroll policies, legislation, regulations, standards.
  • 2+ years of U.S. and Canadian payroll experience in a complex environment. 
  • Experience with payroll systems; ADP Workforce Now experience strongly preferred.
