Elementary Title I Reading Teacher - 1 Year Only Position SY 2025-2026*

The Elementary Title I Reading Teacher works in collaboration with teachers, the Title I Building Principal, Elementary Literacy Specialists and the Pre K-5 Department Head of Literacy to actualize the district vision of academic excellence for all students by providing direct, targeted reading instruction and assessment for students who have been identified through a universal screening process for reading. The goal of the position is to ensure highly effective, supplemental reading instruction for Title I students in order to ensure that their academic reading achievement meets reading benchmarks according to universal screening and benchmark assessments.This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, the Department Head of PreK-5 Literacy and the Building Principal of the Title I School.
Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provides research and evidence-based, targeted, direct instruction in small groups for Title I students.
- Develops systems for tracking and monitoring Title I student reading achievement and progress.
- Collaborates with the PK-5 Department Head for Literacy and the school’s literacy specialists to analyze and utilize data to inform daily instructional planning.
- Collaborates to administer universal screening processes, benchmark assessments, and individual student progress monitoring procedures for Title I students.
- Collaborates with building and district administration by serving on the school’s data team, student support team, and grade level team meetings to support Title I students’ learning needs.
- Co-plans and co-facilitates a Title I family event in each Title I school.
- Coordinates and collaborates with the general education classroom teacher to conduct ongoing home/school communication regarding Title I progress.
- Participates in parent/teacher conferences as defined on the WPS School District 2025-2026 Calendar.
- Fulfills all Title I requirements and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- MA DESE Licensure in Reading, all Grade Levels, preferred; or similar licensure such as MA DESE Elementary Licensure 1-6; MA DESE Moderate Special Needs Licensure PK-8; or MA DESE Licensure ESL PK-6
- Master’s Degree in Specialist Teacher of Reading, Language and Literacy, English Language Arts Curriculum, and/or English as a Second Language, preferred.
- Holds the SEI Endorsement
- Working knowledge and experience with Multi-tiered Systems of Support, evidence-based reading curriculum and instructional methodology, as well as universal screening, benchmark assessments and progress monitoring.

SALARY
- Salary commensurate with the terms of the WEA Unit A Collective Bargaining Agreement
- This position is a FY26 Title I grant funded position and is contingent upon the approval and receipt of the 2025-2026 annual entitlement. This position is one-year only and concludes commensurate with the terms of the FY26 Title I Grant.
