The Opportunity:
We are seeking an instructional aide to support instruction in an elementary classroom. Included in the role are some additional duties beyond classroom support, such as recess or lunch coverage and bus duty, and other duties as assigned. The Instructional Aide will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support our students across educational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the educational, emotional, and behavioral development of students
- Provide support in reading/literacy, math, written language, and social-emotional behavior (with guidance)
- Collaborate with general education and special education staff
- Support formal and informal assessments as directed by teaching staff
- Accommodate and modify for student learning and support the general education teacher with the implementation of appropriate accommodations in the general education setting
- Toileting of students is a duty that an individual may be expected and required to perform as a paraprofessional employed by the Cambridge Public Schools
- Other related duties as assigned
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Instructional Aide, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
- A commitment to ensuring that students have access to high-quality instructional and social-emotional support
- Above-average skills in collaboration and flexible problem-solving
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university preferred
- Experience with children in an urban environment
