EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
Permanent Part Time

THE POSITION:
To assist in the provision of a high quality out of school care program which meets the expectations of the Approved Provider, families and children. Supported by an experienced team, this position will provide care, activities and educational elements to those in the service. NOTE: This person may be placed in day-today charge of the service in the absence of the Service Coordinator.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To ensure that AlburyCity's Out of School Hours program operates in an efficient and effective manner.
  • To work within the service’s philosophy, policies and procedures as part of a team. 
  • Comply with the requirements of the National Quality Framework and Framework for School Age Care – My Time, Our Place and other relevant legislation.
  • Fulfil duties associated with mandatory reporting guidelines in line with the Child Protection legislation and the service’s policies.
  • Create a collaborative and caring environment for the children
  • Contribute to and assist in documenting evaluations of the program.
  • Actively engage with children during the implementation of the program.
  • Share responsibility for the safety and hygiene of children within the service’s environment, including ensuring appropriate cleaning and food handling practices
  • Participate in professional development opportunities as required and keep up-to-date with current industry trends. Share this knowledge with the other educators at the service.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment before, during and after the completion of the session.
  • Check the environment (indoor and outdoor) each day and report any faulty equipment to the Supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Co-operate and work collaboratively with families, ensuring regular communication regarding the care and specific needs of their children, and ensuring that families feel comfortable and encouraged to become involved in the service
  • Build positive relationships with other educators.
  • Work as a member of the team. To be flexible and work in a cooperative manner to ensure efficient operation of the service and maintain a high level of morale.
  • Follow direction and instructions of the Nominated Supervisor and/or senior educators.
  • This role has the opportunity to be Educational Leader
    • Providing educators with guidance, written instruction and resources to develop, plan and implement quality programs for children that meets their physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs and which comply with the Framework for School Age Care – My Time Our Place.
    • Ensure that the program is monitored and evauated on a regular basis by the educators and in consultation with families, children and management and that the evaluations are documented
    • Ensure that the written program is displayed at a place accessible to parents and that a copy is available on request.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
  • Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.
  • Observe appropriate AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding day to day operations including Equal Employment Opportunity policies, AlburyCity's Dress Code and Standards Policy and AlburyCity's Code of Conduct.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Based on a 38 Hour Week: Working 25 hours per week in accordance with facility roster.
  • After School Care during school terms
    • Monday to Friday, 1pm - 6pm 
  • Before School Care during school terms
    • Monday to Friday, 7am - 9am  
  • Vacation Program during School Holidays (38 hours per week during NSW School Holiday periods)
  • Rosters prepared to incorporate the following spread of days and hours: 
    • Monday to Friday, 8.00am - 5.30pm, staff on occasion may be asked to work split shifts.
  • Additional hours up to 38 hours per week may be worked by agreement, and this would be paid at the ordinary rate of pay.
  • This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
  • To observe AlburyCity’s commitment to being a child safe organisation, creating safe environments that minimise the risk of harm with a zero tolerance for child abuse, violence and neglect.
  • This position involves working both indoor and outdoor, along with computer work. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. Appropriate WHS standards will be applied for all manual handing activity. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position. 
  • This position requires evidence of a current NSW Working with Children Clearance
  • This position requires evidence of vaccination against the following infectious diseases:
    • Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
    • Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR)
    • Varicella (Chicken Pox)
  • This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing 
  • Location at time of appointment, at one of AlburyCity's OOSH Services located at: Albury Public School, North Albury Public School, Trinity Anglican College or St Patrick's Parish School with occasional visits to external sites/depots and AlburyCity Administration building as required. 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • NSW Working With Children Clearance
  • First Aid Certificate (compulsory to have and maintain)
  • Current Accredited Emergency Asthma Management Training (compulsory to have and maintain)
  • Current Accredited Anaphylaxis Management Training (compulsory to have and maintain)
  • Effectively work in a team environment, with qualities that are empathetic, respectful, supportive, and kind.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Certificate III in Child Care or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Qikkids Childcare Management Software
  • Class C (standard) Driver's licence 

EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant working experience with primary school aged students is desired
