The Nevada Supreme Court is seeking a Specialty Courts Assistant. This position provides administrative and operational support to the Specialty Courts Statewide Coordinator and plays a key role in ensuring efficient program operations, accurate data and reporting, and effective communication with local specialty courts and stakeholders. The ideal candidate has prior experience in specialty court or related settings, strong organizational and administrative skills, and the ability to foster positive working relationships across agencies and partners.

This position can be located in Carson City or Las Vegas. After an initial training period, there may be an opportunity for a hybrid remote/in-office schedule.

Specialty Courts: 

Specialty Courts are problem-solving court strategies designed to address the root causes of criminal activity by coordinating efforts of the judiciary, prosecution, defense bar, probation, law enforcement, treatment, mental health, social services, and child protection services. Together, they maintain a critical balance of authority, supervision, support, and encouragement. Nevada currently has 84 Specialty Court programs, including drug, DUI, veterans’ treatment, mental health, family treatment, community, habitual offender, medication-assisted treatment, co-occurring disorders, prison re-entry, trauma, and gambling diversion treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Specialty Courts Statewide Coordinator with day-to-day program operations and special projects.
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling, meeting coordination, document preparation, file management, and note-taking.
  • Compile, review, and track financial and program reports from specialty courts statewide; assist with preparing summary reports and presentations.
  • Maintain databases, spreadsheets, and program records with a high level of accuracy.
  • Coordinate training sessions, workshops, and meetings for specialty court staff and stakeholders.
  • Support compliance monitoring and data collection for grant and program reporting.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with specialty court teams, judges, court staff, treatment providers, and community partners.
  • Handle travel logistics and provide on-site assistance at occasional events or meetings (minimal travel required).

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Goal-oriented with an emphasis on quality, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Works well both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn specialized databases and case management systems.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and summarize information for reports and presentations.
  • Knowledge of court operations, specialty courts, substance use, and mental health programs preferred. 

Effectively works remotely and collaborates with employees from a remote location, as needed. Must have expertise in virtual meeting platforms, such as Teams. Must have the ability to work remotely via an internet network connection provided by the employee. This connection speed must be sufficient to perform all duties. A minimum of 50-100 mb download speeds are required. Higher connection speed may be required if sharing this connection with other members in an employee’s household.
