The Process Engineer II position is an exciting opportunity to join PM Group’s quickly growing Boston area team located out of Burlington, MA.  Together we are sharing knowledge, learning, growing, and continuing to be an integral part of supporting PM Group’s ongoing expansion in the US.  Our office is executing cutting-edge projects for Cell & Gene Therapy, Biologics, and Pharma facilities – from feasibility through to qualification – for both local and international clients.  With our clients and partners, we will deliver projects that improve the everyday lives of people across the globe.

 

We are looking for an Engineer who enjoys client interaction as well as the technical aspects of the position.  This individual needs to have an understanding of the technical aspects of process design engineering. The ability to successfully handle multiple real-time complex project and operational tasks as well as maintain a strong work ethic and drive to deliver for clients as a collaborative colleague are necessary for this role. The Process Engineer is mentored by more senior level engineering team members.  Expect project work to include all levels of design: feasibility studies, conceptual & schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration. Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of life science industry projects doing both existing building improvements and new construction.

:
  • Ability to support engineering design through all the design phases
  • Carry out engineering: preparation of process / clean utility calculations, drawings, reports, etc., directly and through supervision of other engineers.
  • Writing and reviewing URS documents, SOP documents, and other design documentation relevant to the process elements of the projects
  • Understanding of GMP facility requirements: GMP material and personnel flows, clean room design requirements, compendial water requirements, impacts of open versus closed processing, etc.
  • Liaise and coordinate with PM Groups different disciplines and offices as well as external consultants.
  • Support of mass balance, PFD and P&ID development for typical biopharmaceutical process unit operations (bioreactors, chromatography, fill finish, etc.).
  • Support of clean utility system design – generation and distribution of purified water, WFI, clean steam and process gases.
  • Supporting process equipment design and specification for both stainless steel and single use equipment.
  • Working alongside third party contractors and offering input into process design, installation and qualification
  • Activities will include technology transfer, process validation, technical troubleshooting, complex deviation investigations, change control, document preparation for regulatory submissions, etc.
  • Providing hands-on problem-solving, thorough investigation, and fault-finding expertise
  • Travel as required for design workshops, HAZOPs, GMP review, etc.
  • Other special projects as assigned 
:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 2+ Years of process engineering experience in a design firm setting (preferably in the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Cell & Gene Therapy sectors)  
  • Experience working with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Understanding of and ability to develop Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Self-starter with confidence in coordinating the efforts of others
  • Good communication skills (ability to participate in technical reviews with Clients and Suppliers)
  • General knowledge of GMP Manufacturing environments is preferred
  • The ability to travel as needed for client and project development
