About the Department
The Theater Arts Technician will support the Technical Director serving events, rehearsals and classes in the Rigas Family Theater and QCA art galleries, as well as oversee the security and maintenance of the facility.
Position Duties
Assists the Technical Director with the following: | |
Providing technical management of Quick Center Performing Arts Series as well as student and regional performances in music, theater, and dance. | 30% |
Responsibilities for technical needs with the Center’s Galleries | 10% |
Responsibilities for the security and maintenance oversight of the QCA facility. | 5% |
Maintaining inventory and upkeep of the QCA’s equipment. Generating and tracking all work orders for the facility | 10% |
Serving as liaison with security services, university maintenance, and outside vendors and/or contractors who use or work in the QCA facility. | 10% |
Liaison for off-site security service. Supervising maintenance and inventory of performing arts spaces, equipment and supplies. Implementing technical requirements for any conferences, lectures, or gallery events held in the QCA and serve as liaison on technical theater needs with visiting/resident companies. | 5% 20% 10% |

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Theater with a concentration in a Technical Theater preferred. Lighting design preferred.
Minimum of three years’ experience in stage construction, digital lighting, and sound preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of all theater aspects with an emphasis in current technical theater systems and practices. Good knowledge of fire codes, security procedures, theater and gallery maintenance, and shop safety policies and practices. Ability to collaborate, establish, and maintain solid working relationships. Knowledge of woodworking, electrics, lighting, and sound practices and procedures. Skilled in knowledge and safe use of hand and power tools. |
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Ability to carry up to 50lbs. and to handle extreme heights. Ability to troubleshoot problems expediently. May be required to don protective clothing or devices (goggles, dust mask etc.) Ability to stand for long periods. Will occasionally be required to work odd or extended hours. |
