Position Overview

The Part-Time Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of Petite Plume by ensuring that day-to-day financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this individual will manage general bookkeeping duties, reconcile accounts, track financial transactions, and help streamline processes as we scale. This is a part-time (20 hours per week) remote role, ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about working within a fast-paced, growing business.

Support our finance function with accurate, timely, and insightful financial management.

What you will do:

Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

  • Record and categorize all incoming and outgoing transactions in QuickBooks
  • Manage A/P entries
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables
  • Match purchase orders to invoices and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare and issue customer invoices for wholesale accounts

Banking and Reconciliations

  • Perform weekly and monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Reconcile third-party platforms such as Shopify
  • Track and verify incoming deposits from multiple channels (DTC, wholesale, marketplaces)

Sales Tax and Compliance

  • Work with Avalara on sales tax processing and tax notices.

Reporting and Month-End Close

  • Assist with monthly close procedures as assigned.

Other Responsibilities

  • Communicate proactively with team members regarding finance-related questions and issues
  • Support finance team as needed.

Your Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial operations
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Excel, and Google Workspace
  • Prior experience in e-commerce, retail, inventory or consumer goods strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, bookkeeping practices, and financial statements
  • Highly detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks with precision
  • Self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Experience with inventory accounting and COGS tracking is a plus
  • Knowledge of Shopify, Concur, Bill.com and Avalara a plus
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
